    Allison M916 + Mk48 Cab = 6x6 "FEMTT"

Holy crap that's a big air filter... Just a curiosity question, any reason why you didn't mount the intake higher to get clean air from over the cab? or face out like a MTV?

    Clothing repair shop, trailer mounted

Sustainment Brigades now have this asset, for where it still exists... I guess I never really thought about it, but when I was at Bragg we had a SLCR company in my motorpool. They had 6x LADS, or Laundry trailers with them. I know they had some type of clothing repair, but never saw any field...

Old girl put back on active duty

First, that is just awesome that you got that opportunity. I imagine some of the older guys who saw it out on the range gave more than a double take. Second, your Company Commander and XO should have their asses in a sling. That is just inexcusable. Unless they have honestly been denied...

Derrick, Nice score. PM me the serial number & full model number (and NSN just in case), and I'll see what I can come up with. I'm out of the office tomorrow but I can BS with my CW4 915 series on Weds if you give me a full description of the problem and see what he thinks.

I officially am in love with your truck.... let her know if she ever wants to run away, she always has a home in my driveway...

    M983

Are you going for just the FPU (Front Power Unit) or for a whole setup? the FPU isn't very useful without something on the back end. What you determine for the rear unit may drive costs. a wrecker variant will cost more than a plain cargo variant...

    915a1,tanker,tanker

That's one heck of a setup man. Glad it hauled for you. And yes, we do have 7,500 gal tankers, but they are not very common. Any A0 or A1 varients should probably be getting turned in soon, but I really don't know. They only exist in a few "line Haul" fuel companies. Most of these...

Ryme or reason to bumper markings?

A note on abbreviations... it also depends on the "size" of the unit. My old unit was a Sustainment Brigade and they wanted "SUS BDE" on the Higher echelon side... I came back with the fact that if I did that on my HMMWVs it would take 3 lines or be half an inch tall. It was shortened down to...

    How to stencil question

Technically on a woodland vehicle the stenciling should be opposing black and green. The Marines do this still, the Army has continued doing a usual tan background with black lettering over. This has become the standard. The FM covering painting/camoflaging of military vehicles is currently...

Teach me about antennas on MV's

I've never seen a radio equipped truck except the FMTVs. the MTV cab can host a radio behind the passenger seat either mounted on the storage box or on the wall of the cab. Antennas are mounted on the backside of the cab. I guess if you really needed to you could mount to the bed or bumper...

Fort Bragg Area MV or good surplus stores

Nah, but do stop by the museums, theres a few around there. The Airborne and Special Operations museum is well worth it. also the 82nd museum and Ft. Bragg museum.

    Shop Van Designations

For some reason, and 100% not able to back this up, it reminds me of a command shelter used in a movie, had some radios and guys inside and passed a message.... I really don't know which one. but I could also be totally wrong... it is interesting and looks like a nice piece. Kinda wish the...

I think there is one of those on display at Ft. Sill. I would show pics, but I lost them in a random phone reset.

    CUCV-II quick questions.

I keep forgetting to take them, I'm going to try to swing by today or tomorrow and grab a few. I'm on TDY all of next week. And I think I misspoke, not the carb, but I'm not sure what. My Chief thinks someone might have removed them to dissuade any interest in the truck so they can get it...

    CUCV-II quick questions.

Thanks. Popped the hood on the one we haven't gotten yet. The carberator and all the battery cables are missing. Even one of the battery trays is gone. didn't appear to be any other issues. maybe not every fuse in the fuse box? seemed to be a few missing...

    CUCV-II quick questions.

OK guys, couple questions about a Generation 2 CUCV. We have one in the unit and may be picking one up. Common issues? (just toss me the threads, I'm heading out the door for work in a bit). Also, the possible incoming one had a HUGE steel bar of some type mounted under the front bumper...
