    SF 97 Charges unfair

DUG, Chief, and others, The links to the GL contract are already here on SS. They are in threads about the contract renewal a couple of years ago. (August 2008). Read about it in this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/conversations/22762-gl-wins-new-contract.html

That's a TEMPER tent 16 x 16, used they run about $500 up, new, about double that. Jim Henry should have some in stock, although you might want to find one closer to your AO, as they are heavy to ship.

    Weight classification on SC title

I think it means 4000 pounds, but I looked at all the SC titles I have and they all list the exact weight. If it's an old title, it may very well be a code for a weight class. Just use the empty weight when you fill out the paperwork.

    MBUv3 Repair

Haven't had that problem yet. But do make sure all electrical contacts are good (take apart, clean off, put back together). I have not seen a -24 or -35 manual for them, but maybe they are built to be sent back to the manufacturer, or sent to DRMO (flip a coin) when they break. I have spares...

    rt-524 hisses

What frequency do you have it set on? Do you have an antenna connected? Please post a picture of how you have it set up (IE, ready to receive/transmit) including all cables and accessories plugged in.

Anyone have a rod bolt they could loan me or know their measurements?

Westy, What do you consider a large order? I've got eight engines that I would tear into and replace the bolts, just for peace of mind. 8 x 12 = 96 bolts, and that's just me. (Yes, I'd have to swear off GL for six months or a little more, but it should be a one shot deal!)

    SC Antique Truck Law

Butch, If you look at my signature line, I have five each deuce trucks, all titled and registered. No CDL because they are less than 26,000 pounds GVW. I know people who have had deuces registered in SC longer than you have. You are the same guy that came to the GA Rally last year ans got...

    SC Antique Truck Law

Butch, Right now the only way you can register is with weighted, commercial (or farm) tags, this gives others a much less expensive way, but does not exclude 'commercial' registration. It gives those of us who do not use our trucks every day a way to keep them registered without a (for me...

    SC Antique Truck Law

Bob, I did have that in what I sent, but he has to put it through a legislative council that actually writes the final wording. One of the first trucks we will get registered is a five ton wrecker!

    SC Antique Truck Law

Well, I talked to a candidate running for office last fall and finally got around to checking on what I'd asked him to do if elected. Here's what I found: H 4032A BILL TO AMEND SECTIONS 56-3-2210 AND 56-3-2220, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR...

Where can I find a M109 Side blackout window cover?

    Got mine from White Owl.

    Deuce radiator repair!?!

I got one rebuilt a couple of years ago for about $100 at a local shop. Pete (pctrans) has had them, as well as several others here in the classifieds, then there's Craigslist and evil-bay to check. There was a thread a while back that found the manufacturer, who would build one for a little...

    Exterior Latex/Acrylic House Paints

If you read the directions (as it was pointed out to me), the Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer needs at least 72 hours to cure before getting the overcoat - longer if you spray it on thick. It's probably true of most of the oil based primers. Proper preparation means less re-work.

    M32 Recovery Vehicle (Sherman Tank)

First, get us some pictures to see what you are working with! Since static displays must be drained of all fluids, it will not be easy to get something that heavy moving again, even if to just shift it's location a few yards. There are several people here that work (volunteer) at museums, so...

    Trailer ???

elkay12, If you look at the technical manual listed on both tags - they are the same! That's a big clue that one is just a variant of the other. The military was a great user of the common frame for many purposes - just look at the deuce. The major variants are the M35, M36, M49, M50, M109...

    M146 RV Conversion

the 6500 BTU/h unit I have in the M109 box works well (cools it down in 90 degree + weather). If your insulation is better than the fiberglass the military used, you should be fine.

    2011 Uwharrie Rally Pics

They had trail rides today. Cabell was still out when I left to come home around 6pm. A couple of folks had a late lunch because they were out on the trails. I'm waiting for pictures of the Dutch truck, the one with the two rear drive shafts.

Does anyone have a 3d CADD CAD model of the Deuce?

Well, You could just get one of the AFV M35 plastic deuce kits (and if you can't find the M35A2 kit, get the M49 tanker truck kit and build it as a start). The M36, with a 17 foot bed would give you a lot more room. I have an S-280 that's going on my M36 one day. It will have 26 inches of...

    Replace cracked head

I've got a parts engine (or more accurately a no parts engine) that has the heads on it, but I have no idea if the heads are any good. The engine is in Columbia, SC, and I have a use for the can (to put another motor in). Since we took the water pump off this past Wednesday, the only other...
