Ok, so I went to move the 5-ton the other day, and it was idling rough. Here in Orlando FL the temps are always mild.. so it's not a cold start issue. I let the truck idle to air up the brakes to 120psi, and put it in gear, and it felt like I was running on 4 cylinders.... low power, and rough...
Let me look in my tri-walls.... I might just have what your looking for. I moved to FL a yr ago, and have 10 triwalls of parts I still haven't gone through. lol
I've got a NOS Muffler for sale if anyone needs it.... Dommed at both ends, OEM Green CARC and ready to install. .
$250 plus shipping to you takes it.
If interested PM me.
I've got a 24v heater core that can heat the air until the engine heats up. I put one in my truck when my original core sprung a leak. Works like a champ for instant heat to clear the windows, and once the engine heats up it will keep the cab warm even on the coldest days.
I need to ship a 5-ton seat assembly from Orlando, FL to Bishop, CA..... Who to use?
I have it in a wooden crate, 55x30x30... and 115lbs.
Anyone have a suggestion?
The sled we pulled was at max weight of 60,000lbs, and he dropped the pan at 75 ft.... vs 200 ft normal. Since it was an exhibition pull, and we hadn't pulled the 5-tons before, we had no idea how they would do. So the sled operator and myself agreed to take it on the cautious side and overload...
Sorry, but I'm not going to make it this weekend... I ran the truck today and it barely started... it turns out my alternator is not working right... it goes from WAY over charging to under charging. Not sure yet what is up, but it's definitely not something I want to risk having a problem at a...
I did all my mods with the pump on the engine while sitting on the drivers side front tire. lol I have a magnetic tray for holding small parts and screws. Just have a handful of clean rags/paper towels, starter fluid (for cleaning any parts), and the few tools you need. Piece of cake! :-D
btw...
Anyone interested in having a "Meet and Greet" with our trucks at Old Town in Kissimmee? A couple of us took our trucks there awhile back for their 4x4 night and had a nice time. The crowd seemed to be excited by seeing the military trucks there.
Thoughts?
"Pilling the pump"... sorry that's slang for putting a smaller fuel button in the PT pump. The smaller the number, the more fuel that is allowed to flow to the engine from the pump. Turning the screw will only get you so far unless you change the fuel button as well. I dropped from a stock 32 in...
Add a 2nd fuel line to the back of the motor, turn the fuel screw a tad, shim and pill the pump.... made a nice difference on my 923A1. Smoother idle, easier starts, and runs 68 all day long.
Anyone seen the 300gal fuel tanks that fit in the front of the bed of the 923 in front of where the bed sides fold and just up to the bed rails? I saw a couple of pictures of one, and like the idea.
My 923A1 cruises between 68-70mph on the gov... I drove it from Dayton OH -to- Orlando FL and cruised it on the gov the whole way... and this while towing a M796 Bolster trailer, and fully loaded truck and trailer. I had the tires aired up to 85psi, and it drove great, handled great, braking was...
