    1,040 mile trip.... no problems!

Yea... my truck runs 68mph all day long loaded. I just aired the tires up to 95psi, and it ran like a champ! No shimmy, or instability what so ever. I'm not sure what they did to my fuel pump.. but it had a 32 button in it stock. I dropped it to a 22, and it ran a bit too hot, so I dropped it to...

    1,040 mile trip.... no problems!

Yep... you are correct. It was coming out of the peak.... Going up the mt it was raining buckets with 40mph head winds... windshield leaking all over, and EGT's at 1250 all the way up... but she handled it all in stride and that was the middle of the first day! lol The 2nd day was a breeze...

    1,040 mile trip.... no problems!

Well my truck made the 1,040 mile trip without any problems.... I had around 8,000lbs in the bed, and towing 9,000lbs. Here is a pic of my M923A1 truck and M796A1 trailer at a scenic view in TN.. - It averaged 68mph on the flat areas, and got as low as 35mph on major hills (like Jellico mt)...

How much EGT is too much EGT??

Ok... I messed with the truck more today... I hit the highway and got it moving around 65-68mph, and going up a longer hill on the highway it climbed to about 1270... with only a slight trail of smoke.. not black.. but just a slight trail. The engine temp never budged past 185-190 where it...

How much EGT is too much EGT??

Yea I was surprised by the #32 button as well. Mine is a Nov 09 rebuild... so not sure if that has any impact on it. The good thing is the rear plug for the dual fuel mod, just came right out with zero issues. A little lapping compound and it backed right out without needing to heat it or...

How much EGT is too much EGT??

Awesome... thanks for the info! Yea I had planned a turbo for it.. but the retard that was supposed to do it F'd the plan up and was more talk than knowledge about military trucks. I'll do it after the move... The air filter is a bit dirty, 1/2 of it that is.... I'm going to swap it out and...

How much EGT is too much EGT??

What is the recommended max EGT you should stay away from?? Just did the dual fuel rail to the back of the motor using 5/16" lines... (same as stock), and dropped to a #22 fuel button... (stock was a #32), and added a digital Pyro. I figured red led numbers was easier to see than a dial gauge...

    Compression Fitting for Fuel line??

Anyone tried using compression fitting on their Fuel line on 5-ton? I've used them on gas fuel injections... but haven't seen anything about it here?

An M796 Bolster for my 5-ton....

Thanks.... It was a couple hrs of tinkering with wood.. but it will fit the bill until I can make one out of steel.... :)

Duel fuel line mod M818 855 cummins

Has anyone just cut the OEM 5/16" fuel line and used a compression 5/16" Tee then add a 5/16 rear line? If I read this correct... the head fitting is a 1/8" NPT?

An M796 Bolster for my 5-ton....

I built the bed out of pressure treated lumber and 3/4" plywood.... then coated it in an epoxy resin paint like non-skid on a flightdeck for a nice no-slip surface. :)

An M796 Bolster for my 5-ton....

So I added a 7X14' deck on my Bolster trailer to haul behind my M923A1..... It pulls great! I set it up to be able to remove it easily if I want to haul logs, pipe, or anything longer. Next mod will be adding a 12k winch on the nose of the trailer, and rollers on the tail to pull the bed on.

923A1 .. Going turbo next week...

Well... Its a bust... the guy that was supposed to be doing my turbo didn't have a clue about military trucks, and was about to totally F up the location of the turbo and other components.. He had the truck a month and basically didn't do squat!! Yea, needless to say I was pissed beyond...
