    M116A3 covers and similar covers

If anyone has some photos of the 103 with a cover on it, I could compare. This was a total bummer, changes my plans a lot.

    M116A3 covers and similar covers

Anyone familiar with the M116A3 covers? I picked up a new-to-me M116A3 that had a cover crumpled up on the bed. I laid it out, then tried to install it, and find it's way too big. It has most of the matching tie-downs that follow the bed contours, but the dimensions are just way too big. The...

Military to civilian wiring simple solution

Maybe doing that, and pouring some epoxy in the connector would be good for wire stability/security. But at that point, it's probably worth converting the wiring. I think I'd use your technique on a pick-up from a GL lot, though. Good idea.

    2740lbs in an M101A2

I've hauled gravel a dozen times before in the same setup, but I don't think I ever went over 2000lbs. This time they accidentally overloaded it. I've probably hauled about or more than 3k in other equipment, etc, too. I'd have higher expectations for an A3. The axles on the A3 look like...

    2740lbs in an M101A2

Yeah, I had to use a floor jack to unhitch, I don't have a crank landing leg on it. I should have grabbed the crank leg off the trailer I sold, but I didn't have a handle and never used it... I Wasn't watching it with the backup cam, but I was watching the rack in alignment with my truck...

    I would like to get a M101

    That's correct. The A2-A3 do.

    2740lbs in an M101A2

Did you weigh it? I've tossed around the same phrase, and would have said I had about 3k in here, but we actually weighed it.

    2740lbs in an M101A2

I just picked up a load of gravel, and they accidentally over loaded it. Figured I'd grab the opportunity to take pics and post them here, since we often talk about how much more the equipment can handle than it's rated to handle. I don't believe my springs are worn at all. This trailer barely...

    MEP Blues

What model numbers are these? I'm guessing 002 or 003 if the IP is leaking on the oil filter. I wouldn't want to remove that IP if avoidable. Hopefully it's fixable in-place. You checked the obvious, like tight fittings and lines, right? I'd say reconnection switch on the voltage problem unit...

Trailers out of New Castle Truck Center

I thought maybe that, but I've bought dozens of trailers from GL over the past couple years, and these are the first I've seen like this. Possible I didn't see it on the others, but of my current trailers, just these two out of New Castle are screwed up. Kinda like the taillights broken off at...

Trailers out of New Castle Truck Center

Anyone have an idea why many are coming out with the lunette's and landing legs bent and screwed up? I picked one up recently and discovered the lunette is bent and the brake head damaged just enough to not be obvious in photos, but make the lockout misaligned and the internal shock absorber...

Just got my first genset MEP-831A

I think a bunch of these just went from Ft Meade. They look like interesting little units. If they're the one's I'm thinking of, the Yanmar engine is pretty good. I had one on a MEP-016d that was really easy to start by hand (witht he decompression lever). NOT quiet, though. It was possibly...

    M915A1 Repainted

Bringing one back from dormancy to say Nice Job! I found this thread searching for pics of "civil-ized" M915/916/920's. I always thought they'd make a mean looking truck in candy apple red or midnight blue.

TM and Wiring question for MEP701A/16B

I found mine choked badly on a 4.5kw resistive load at 300'. I would say not to expect too much more than rated output from it. Even 4kw is still 33% higher than rated. I'd say 3.5kw and it'll stay healthy.

    Mep-018a

I should also rescind my comment about hard starting. It had oxidized points when I was trying to start it, and I was getting weak or no spark. I filed them gently with emery cloth, and the unit would start very easy off weak 12 batteries. Until I changed the fuel filter...then it was behaving...

    Mep-018a

I just did this job a few weeks ago. You really can't do it any other way, you have to remove the governor. You also have to time the magneto to the correct position. Spin the gear on the magneto through the snap (s) until you see a spark at cylinder #1's port, then roll it back a hair or two...

Tips for inspecting a generator before purchase

There's probably a thread already, but something important to test is how well it will hold a load. Obviously, you're going to make sure it runs, but once running, you'd want to make sure it's producing the correct voltage and holding the frequency stable. Those alone don't mean it works great...

    4A084 cylinder numbers

I'm re-timing a 4a084 after cleaning up and resetting the points, but I'm not clear on the cylinder order, and think I may have reversed two plug wires. The TM shows the firing order, but I couldn't find cylinder numbering anywhere in it. Anyone have a figure/illustration, or description of...
