The elbow seals with an oring, a standard size schrader valve can be installed in the valve stem if the CTIS is removed however a standard air chuck doesn't work to add air due to how deep the valve sits and the diameter of the stem. The correct valve stems are available from a few online...
I have a set as well but haven't tried to install them yet as I am sorting out some leaks on the CTIS parts.
Please let us know what is necessary to make these work, I recall a few months back someone mentioned enlarging the cutout for the hose.
The CTIS seal was at an angle, possibly it got hung up on the spindle when i removed the hub. When i went to pull the hub it took much more effort than i expected To get it to move the first half inch or so. Perhaps the seal got hung up.
Did you have any problem pulling your hub?
I did the same locker swap on my A2 last year.
Regarding reusing the seals when I pulled my hubs I was able to do it without damaging the seals or bearings, I went ahead and replaced the inner seal anyway since I had purchasd them in advance and didn't want to tear it apart sometime later...
Yes, the hard line you see is the fuel line, the high pressure hose replaced a hard line which is an oil line. As I said I am not sure why it would fail but the previous owner said it failed and his mechanic installed the high pressure hose.
I updated my original post with pictures.
Also regarding the oil line, the previous owner mentioned the oil line failure. The line goes between the cylinder head and the rear of the fuel governor. My truck has the hard line replaced with a high pressure hose. See the below picture. I am not...
Unfortunately I can speak from experience about the gear housing cracking where the air compressor mounts on the 3116.
When I purchased my truck (1994 1078 ) several months back it had an oil leak at the compressor. Originally I thought it was just the gasket but when I tore into it I found the...
Wow, luck was with me this time, I picked up the pulley 2 weeks ago and it was in stock at one of my local dealers branch's. As you said looks like no more in the system.
Hopefully I can find the idler and the lower bracket before my planned winter install or I will have to fab them.
I believe the C7 uses the same pulley as I listed based on the post I got the part number from. I had confidence it would fit the 3116 since the damper it mounted to was common between the C7 and the 3116 based on looking at the parts manuals for both engines on caterpillars website. You should...
According to the website it is adhesive backed and the adhesive is rated for 450 F. My idea is to use this stuff mainly on the doghouse area. I probably will add insulation on the inside under the mat as well as others have done.
Based on another members post, I purchased the crankshaft pulley from Caterpillar. The part number is 298-1308 and was $188. I don't have the Red Dot part to compare to but from the photos it looks identical. Here are some photos of my install. Also you will need to use 90mm long socket head cap...
I was thinking the same thing. I found a product called floor and tunnel shield II that is a bit expensive but should work well. I will add it to my winter project list along with adding AC.
I have both, I prefer the gantry for most things since the reach is not limited like on a cherry picker. Also as mentioned above a chain hoist has a lot better control on lowering the load. Also some times its a challenge with having the cherry pickers legs interfering with the tires, jackstands...
Great will send a PM regarding the parts.
Does anybody have the dimensions for the stock condenser?
After looking at my truck and the space available there isn't as much room as I expected to mount the commercial truck parallel flow condenser I was looking at.
May need to consult the A/C...
I am starting to collect parts for the a/c install in my 1078. Does anyone have a source for the bracket which supports the compressor bracket TV040127 as well as the idler pulley?
Based on the results others have posted, I may try to use a parallel flow condenser off a commercial truck.
Thanks
I swapped a Detroit locker into my M923A2 axle with no problem, as mentioned if you want to keep the CTIS this is your only option, otherwise the backing plate swap would be less work.
