I did install a flapper cap when I put a muffler on, the holes in the flex were from electric arc with battery cables (before it was mine), were temp fixed with JB Weld by previous owner, did not last.
I think the split happened when my old engine plagued with head gasket issues and had a...
I'm not sure how old mine was, so it needed something.
Hopefully painting it with some High Temp paint will make it last a little longer.
Any suggestions..?
If you have an In-flight or Ground Emergency, how much of it would you shut down...?
There is enough pavement for 3 individual runways, (where 2 could still be used in an emergency).
Seems really easy for someone to land on the wrong side of the circle... (Brits drive on the wrong side)
Airfield...
I got my new J pipe and flex pipe and gaskets.
Now to prep it for paint and cut it to fit the muffler.
The old pipe was split and the flex had holes in it...
I would think the block still has a LOT of fluid in it. I drained the rad first on my engine swap, but when I drained the block, there was way more than I expected.
Put new hub seals on a leaking rear wheel, went pretty easy.
Getting ready to order J pipe and flex and EGT and boost gauges.
Greased door latches and handles while I had greasy fingers.
Made 3 trips to the brush/tree disposal site. First load of brush had to be unloaded by hand...
Then I figured i'd do a "dead head" (or whatever it's called), by wrapping a chain around a 4" log (about 4' long).
Buried near the cab, and let them brush site boys tug it out with their skid steer...
Drove my first load of tree limbs and logs to the county site, she wasnt completely loaded to the top of the rails but close and it was packed tight.
Best part was the young men unloaded it for me, and it was all FREE. They'll also load you up with free much if you want.
Laser temp checked my...
Deuce2, I was calling it a tap, but it's just a much smaller wire and ring connector to the large battery cable. Where someone had "tapped in" for power. (A makeshift terminal in an electric circuit)
A cheap tap into one of the batteries will leave you on the side of the road...
Lucky for me, it was still in my yard.
It would not click or even try to start. With the start button pushed, the fuel gauge would quickly move to empty.
I looked at all my connections to the starter and ground...
Ahhh... I may have broken the gasket on the fuel pump rack, this would also be part of the problem.
Just because I didnt plan to make it "fording safe".
I marked my bolt locations, center punched them, the smallest bit on the tip of the step bit is roughly 3/16".
There is flat space for a almost 1/4" before the next larger step starts to cut.
At full diameter, I may have started to cut 1/16th or less into the metal, not the full width of the...
I'll have to run it harder and keep my spare primary with me. I had the pump out a year ago and took a fuel sample from the very bottom of the tank (parked diagonal on hillside for the weekend) let the sample settle in a glass bowl for a day and there were zero sign of moisture.
Seems to be the...
I cut my tall stack down to near cab level, put my flapper back on, touched up the black paint.
Found that my J pipe is cracked/split and ready to be replaced soon... I thought the tall pipe and tree limbs may have weakened the pipe. (found j pipe for $140. have not ordered yet)
Flex pipe will...
The step bit works well, as it starts small, and you feel it move to the next bigger step on the bit.
Mine has never dulled, but you must take care not to just "ram it home" or you'll end up with a 1/2" hole, when you only wanted 3/8"...
Drill a bit, catch your breath, see if the bolt will fit...
