    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Only thing today was getting the front lower guards back in place. Funny thing is the smaller one took longer to get in position and I actually had to use a c-clamp on it to hold in place while I got a bolt started. The longer one I was just able to push up on it with my shoulder to hold it in...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

And I was correct that we now have air. Like others have mentioned it is not the coolest - running about 65° at the vent with outside temps about 92°. We took it for a test drive and it was comfortable but no where near "cold" or similar to civilian vehicle. Still it beats a non-AC deuce on a...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

AC is in and running. Thanks to Keith Knight for advice and Keith_J for the work. We're getting about 65° at the vent (outside temp in the low 90s). We took it for a drive and it stayed comfortable but certainly not as cold as a passenger vehicle.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Haven't been there yet (about 450 miles from me). I was actually thinking about heading out there in October when it gets down to the mid-80s during the day :)

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

It'll still be hot in October so I've got plenty of time. Say, if you're planning on wintering in AZ again this year I found a great guided trail in southern NM. It's a 5 day, 375 mile route. He's trying to figure out if my truck can make it or not due to the height. It'd be a blast to look...

    LMTV Air Conditioner

Shop still couldn't figure it out so I just picked the truck up. They did what I couldn't which is make the hoses and hard line. Now, when the weather is a little cooler in the morning Keith_J and I will use Keith Knight's diagram (which I provided the shop) and get it all sorted out. This...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

One step forward. The shop still couldn't manage the wiring so I just picked it up. Too hot this afternoon to work on it but Keith_J will be over in the morning and I think we can knock it out pretty quick. At this point it's just a matter of connecting the drier switch and the condenser then...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Really pretty excited about getting the truck back with working AC (or getting it back and finishing the AC if the shop can't pull their collective heads out) and looking at some offroading trip ideas. There are a couple of good spots in both southern and northern NM and a particularly enticing...

Started my 003 for the first time since January

Having a similar issue with my 003 although I've got plenty of fuel at the filters. Keith_J was looking it over and thinks the valve stems have got some varnish or gunk on them and not letting the valves open/close all the way. Billowing clouds of aromatic white smoke engulf us as we're...

    HET Convoy Light on FMTV

Got mine last week but waiting to get the truck back from the AC shop. I need to install that, start working on the insulation, and get the new tires swapped on and then I should be done for a while.

    LMTV Air Conditioner

AC shop is still putzing around with mine. They can't figure out where to tap in to the 12v and rather than call me for any info they just kept screwing around. The one guy there that seems halfway competent finally called me this afternoon and I forwarded some of Keith Knight's posts on to...

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

I haven't had the need to try it out yet but it appears to be all there. And as I hope to return to the PNW someday I'd better keep it.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

It may go smaller but the 5 mintes I spent to learn this afternoon didn't lend itself to changing. Since I don't plan to pay for the full program I doubt I'll get its full benefit.

    Working on the M1078 LMTV

I am not a CAD drafter so you'll have to manage with what I have. The el cheapo program I got on line only did feet not inches and wouldn't go down low enough to post accurate measurements so I'll list them below. Also these are rough estimates. The plastic edge that's around the headliner...
