I just brought home my first duece and realized my brake lights aren't working. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions before I start digging in to it.
Sealed the deal tonigh, and plan p/u tomorrow. On the turbo topic, it does appear to be the whistler ;) Starts and runs very nice. Only issue I can find is a leaking wheel cylinder. So, here she is waiting for the replacement windshield and wiper assembly before pick up.
So maybe I will end up with a whistler ;) I started out not wanting the whistler, because I want to drive it a lot and didn't want the extra noise. Now after hearing some I like the sound and am sorta hoping for it. May find out today, yay!
Thanks, I had not thought of the fluid issue with the bearing surfaces. I will do some research on that. I plan to give it a real good once over when I see it again this week. Then I plan to drive it home. That will be a good little test to see if any problems are going to surface with leaks ect.
Yeah, I can certainly see that point. The body seems about average. One thing I did like was that there didn't seem to be much rust. The bed especially was more rust free then most I have seen. The true seal of the deal will be when I go see it running, and get to see and hear how everything...
Hmmm, didn't know there was a lds turbo. I noticed it was banded together, not bolted, and assumed it was a whistler. I have heard people rave about the LDS-465-1A, and say that adds alot to the value due to the extra 50hp. Is that not true?
Well, I have finally decided to take the plunge and fulfill my boyhood dream of owning a Duece. I have been shopping around, hoping to find that 1500 dollar bargain that I just couldn't say no to. Instead I found one nearly 3 times that much, but I think it may be worth it. Maybe you guys can...
Wow, I guess I should count my blessings. Not too long ago I told my gf I wanted to buy a new truck, then showed her a picture of a Duece. I was expecting the normal chic reaction, something like "what in the #%@$ do you need that for?". But instead it was, "that's cool, will I be able to drive...
If you look at the weights of some modern fifth wheel campers, I would think you wouldn't be far off. A good deisel p/u with a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer should do the job. The most important part will be that you have good brakes all around on truck and trailer.
That makes his deal sound better, but I don't know if my budget can handle the price tag. I made an offer, so I will have to see what happens I guess. I started my search looking for a real cheap work horse, and now I'm leaning more toward a nice one to restore :)
the turbo has a band holding it together and not bolted together. The batteries were out of it, so no hearing it run today. He assures me it runs well, and if I go back for another look he said he will start it up. I didn't take any pictures of it. So, the 1A really doesn't mean anything then? I...
I am relatively new to the MV scene, and as new as they come to this site :-). I have found some great info on here, and I am sure I will be on here alot in the future. I am looking to buy a M35A2, as I have wanted one since I was young. I looked at one today, and found something I am not sure...
