I don't know Electricity, I confess, but i do WANT to learn, so excuse if this is stupid (wouldn't be the first time!), BUT:
- So you're thinking it's some kind of parasitic load or something, because this "shouldn't" be happening; is that it?
Those bearings cleaned up nicely. You did a good job there. [thumbzup]
I was shopping for some Naval Jelly the other day, and the guy at the store (West Marine) told me it's unavailable now. He said something about the EPA, and how it was not approved for further sale, He had some alternate...
Please remove all remnants of Negativity in and around the vehicle, and be mindful to accentuate the Positive whenever in the truck's vicinity.
The OD Buddha would want it that way.
I can sure understand how you might want to "deep-six" the seat (considering that you're not operating as an active combat ambulance).
But I admire it as a GREAT concept, whoever came up with the idea.
I might be missing something here, but it looks like the alternator is grounded to ITSELF, and that doesn't make sense.
It's that smaller wire between the two terminal posts right?
Does this apply to Alternators only:
- or is it also recommended that battery leads have different sizes based on added extra loads (beyond OEM standard, like a crane, etc)?
Talking about running the batteries down:
- Do you have an opinion about battery system protectors, like "PriorityStart!", ever hear of these?
It's small switch (electro-magnetic, I think) that you hang off a battery and it switches off any loads going through it if it detects the battery...
You sound like you know a WHOLE lot more about batteries than I'll ever know, jpg.
But I'm learning all that I can from you; thanks for that!
I would have just driven over to The Battery Store and asked the bud there, "Hey, can you help me here!?"
A welding instructor who taught me through the local community college told all of us in the class that some of the best welders he ran across were women. He said he guessed it was because of their patience. He had worked as a weld inspector during the build of the Alaska Pipeline. He said there...
That sounds VERY cool.
Until you all mentioned it here, I had no idea this set-up even existed. I need to look into this some more.
Thanks for posting about it. [thumbzup]
Dang, that's pricier than I thought it would be. I mean I'm sure it's all good-and-solid, but seems like you could pick up a little Miller MIG machine for about the same (+/_).
Of course it wouldn't be the battery set-up (which is pretty slick I admit, but makes the choice to buy it a little...
Now that is pretty slick; never heard of these until right now:
- So it's wire-feed and not a stick welder, right?
And it's GOT to be a whole lot cheaper than a full-cycle Miller machine or a Hobart or something.
But you don't so you're spotless:
- I say, keep her guessing
It could work out to your favor.
You know, a few less chores assigned, and maybe suggestions for some fun evenings together; that kind of thing.
Of course, alternately, it might push her to get herself a boyfriend; tough call. :naner:
