If this is your question, then 24 volts is a nominal rating, and they are designed to work at the voltage your generator puts out. As noted above, use a pair of batteries (use deep cycle ones) between the generator and the inverter, they will make things work much better.
I used a pair of 90 degree hoses, with a coupler (piece of pipe and four hose clamps) in the center, and it works perfectly on my MEP-004a (same hose, IIRC.)
Done like that because a breaker on a three phase generator set must break all three phases (to prevent possible damage to three phase loads and also to prevent a safety problem.)
I've seen similar setups as well, where one of the three phases was rated lower than the other two.
1. Oops... (posted wrong!)
2. Where did you get that setup?
3. I think technically it doesn't meet code, but I'm not going to research it (too lazy!) I believe there are specifications for the location of the main breaker (must be either top most or bottom most in the panel.)
The operator's manual covers the testing and circuit for the alternator.
From the rear, looking at the alternator:
Triangle, two pins on bottom, one on top.
Bottom pins are plus and minus (with minus closest to the fuse holder).
Top pin is excite which turns on the alternator. Connected to...
Run solenoid, part of the injection pump. Two wires on the top of the pump (one +24V other ground) which should have 24 volts while running. If for some reason that voltage goes away, it will shut down. There is also the lever on the side that must be wired towards the end of the pump where the...
Check the front most filter and its lines. The day tank gravity feeds that filter, then again gravity feed to the injection pump. The fuel pumps only feed the day tank (through the rear filter, and the water separator) so if the day tank is being properly filled then they are probably OK.
Two things:
1. Generally alternators are self limiting.
2. The alternator in the MEP-004/5 has a fuse. (Disclaimer: I've not studied what the fuse protects however!)
I suspect something other than charging 'dead' batteries is the cause.
It is amazing just how many people refuse to believe this! The fuel depot does not have tanks with each of these fuels: there is one tank, and depending on the usage, dye is added as the fuel is dispensed into the tanker truck (the dye and injecting equipment make it necessary to use different...
Built-in? That's one I've not seen. Those are washers, I bet, that are simply stuck in the holes. I used a puller to remove mine, though with the head on the engine it may be more difficult (I did mine on the bench...) However, if there is no blow-by or leakage, I'd say you are good to go.
As...
I tried to work this out, but one issue is that you have the problem that loads come and go in residential environments. I have an 'all electric' house, with electric heat. One day last spring I did a test and forced the heat on, and turned on everything I could control (no control over the...
IMHO, you will do much better selling it as a generator head (assuming it is in good condition without damage, of course) than you will do selling as scrap. To scrap it, you'd have to cut out all the windings from the iron because if you don't they will only pay mixed metal price for it, and...
I do wish this old wife's tale would die. Diesel exhaust has a substantial amount of oxygen because a diesel is a lean burning engine (especially at idle.)
Gasoline exhaust contains CO (carbon-monoxide) which is just as bad, as it is a flammable gas (can burn) a fact that too many are unaware...
Technically no. You need a five conductor cable and connectors, three phases, neutral and ground.
Again, technically no. You need a four conductor cable, and connectors. Two hot, neutral and ground.
Appropriate grounding circuit consists of a conductor from the generator's frame to the...
Do check the contacts on the main contactor (above and to the left of the output terminals) as it is possible a bit of 'dirt' or debris has gotten in there causing the contact to remain open. A few simple checks with a multi-meter will likely tell you what is open. (Check with the generator off...
New injectors, new manifold, or new studs?
Gaskets... Contact Linda Bero at hercules_parts@yahoo.com, they have all the parts you will need for the Hercules engines. I'm sure they have injectors too, if you should need them. The exhaust flange to muffler gasket is hard to find, I made...
