    'New' GL policy...

I suppose that's good, though I wonder if my trailer will have rusted away to little flakes of red oxide before I ever get my clearance.

    Sandblasting & CARC paint, Dangers...?

Some auto restorers use "hot tanking" where the entire vehicle is soaked in a vat of acid that eats away paint, rust, etc. Sometimes it turns out the car is mostly rust, but thats another story. I imagine it would be hard to find such a tank to take an entire Deuce in one piece but any body...

    In the EUC holding pattern

I've been waiting so long, I forgot I actually bought the danged trailer and started to bid on another one! Fortunately someone outbid me. Someday I'll probably be approved and go get it.

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

I would imagine most of the hardware, software and background info is "out there" to be had without paying b4 for anyone with the time/interest/skills to ferret them out. OTOH if I had a need for what he's figured out it might be worth my while to pay him for what I could do on my own esp...

    License Requirements for 5-ton Dump

You might find getting a CDL is easier than you think. In MA I can "upgrade" to a CDL with a written test and a fee. I would only need a road test for the endorsements like air brakes. (if your truck has conventional air brakes you'll need to test for that somehow) I doubt a company would hire...

    M101A2 Interior Headroom?

blybrook if I ever get to ALASKA I'll stand by that coffee, but doghead will have a sooner chance to collect when I pester him for background info on my eventual recovery(s) from Ft Drum :-D I like the idea of raising the roof... I saw a thread here a week or two ago showing a Deuce with a...

    M101A2 Interior Headroom?

I'm in the infamous EUC holding pattern... while I wait I'm trying to justify the purchase to my wife. In addition to yard work I plan to use it for camping. It would be great if the interior (with canvas on) dimensions are big enough to use as a "tent". So from the cargo bed to the underside...

Sorry about that... if you buy it, can I bum a ride? Things are kind of rough around here lately...

Anybody want to buy a KIA - like me!

I'm no manufacturing expert but I would think it would be cheaper to license the blueprints for the M35A2 and manufacture it to spec than it would be to "clone" and re-blueprint each part. AM General, Kaiser - they all must have worked from the same blueprints. I'd bet they're so close you...

    Deuce sighting in NH

Well, too steep for ME, then. Negatives: Soft top, some cancer at the rear of the front fenders / front of runner board. No winch, no ribs/canopy (or at least not with the truck at the time). Some bubbled carc. It was unattended and I didn't want to just open things up without permission so...

    Deuce sighting in NH

So I was on a drive with family and my son calls out "DAD! There's a Deuce for sale over there! We turned around and it turned out he was right! Well... It's a '73 AM General w/ drop sides on display at a truck service. And its only $6995! (cough) For MY first deuce that seems a little...

    GL Auctions Extending?

Now THAT was funny! Because it's true! I'm at ~45 calendar days since I submitted an EUC for a rotten trailer. The 15 minutes didn't bother me. It's the EUC that's giving me indigestion.

    Took the deuce camping.

I liked the camper setup. A nice compromise between sleeping on the ground under a cramped and leaky tent and sleeping in a rolling apartment rv. Add those lights and maybe a camp chair and table and you've got a great rig!

    Sale cancelled

I'm waiting on my first EUC for a trailer. If I bid on a Deuce (and win), is it likely to take just as long for the second EUC as for the first or could it take less time since they've completed part of the paperwork? Or will it take twice as long because it defies their logic?

    Project : Ammunition Trailer

Somehow the M101A2 for which I'm awaiting an EUC seems inadequate now

M35 Brakes. Warning signs ignored could have been serious

As I look longingly at the GL auctions, accumulating cash . . . Has anyone converted the brakes to a two circuit setup either with a more modern MC or with two stock units operated by one pedal? Or is this just a bad idea? As for the spoiled brake fluid, it sounds like that could be...

I found a thread discussing the taxes in excruciating detail.

How about alcohol? (and a gas tax question)

OK. First off, I like the search function suggesting threads based on the subject. Will a multifuel engine run on straight ethanol (or a mix at least?) Alcohol - make your own fuel? - Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite answers that for the most part. It sounds as though if the...

    SF-97, *exactly* what is it?

I saw some threads talking about the FL titles! So I'll either get an SF97 or a title depending on whether Mass is bright enough to accept the SF97. AMzing how many ways different groups can charge fees for the same thing. Whatever way is most difficult, expensive and time consuming will be...
