What year is your truck? I don't think pushing the start button for a "split second" will do much. The operators manual says you can crank up to 30 seconds before letting the starter cool off a bit. It also says that you should fully depress the peddle, let up and then press 1/3 of the way down...
I agree with your price comment. I'm not a petroleum chemist, but I do have a fairly substantial scientific background and know that specifications are there for a reason. Whether or not it's important enough in these hydraulic systems to stick with compatible fluids I don't have an answer for that.
As far as I know, Mil H5606 is the hydraulic oil used in the air hydraulic power unit. OE/HDO-10 is basically 10 weight oil, not hydraulic fluid. Royco 783 is 100% compatible with Mil H5606. Another Royco product is Royco 756.
I know that this is all very sound advice for a new truck, seriously sound advice! However, once you've got it under control you can't be afraid to drive it. Mine has 27K+ miles on it and I drive it like it were a car. Well not really but you get the point. I get a little nervous every time I...
Is the manual pump for the cab lift completely separate from the air hydraulic pump system? Or does it share the reservoir or pump lines in some way. I'm assuming it's completely separate but I haven't actually traced it out.
The primary fuel/water separator filter on my C7 CAT has a Donaldson P550746 filter. The water collection bowl that's listed for this filter is Donaldson P564750 http://store.reliableindustries.com/filtration-products/p564750-water-collection-bowl-fuel-donaldson/. My plastic screw-on bowl has...
The mystery solenoids have been identified, sort of...
To all who have tried to help me solve the issue of the mystery solenoids in my battery disconnect box I thank you. However, I have to confess that this is a bit of an embarrassment on my part.
We finally got a break in the weather and...
There is not one on the truck. There is a plate on the battery disconnect box that is covering up the hole where it apparently was at one time. I would like to put one back in.
I have come to the conclusion that the mystery solenoids that are in that box may have been retrofits. Although I...
VERY NICE! You have now show me that I have a bunch more work to do to clean mine as well. I just have more parts (of unknown purpose) to work around, but if you would have seen how much mud and crap was in this box when I got it you would think that mine was rather clean now. Photos to...
Thanks. I'm beginning to think that as these things went down the line during manufacturing that they just had a box full of parts. The guy on the line just grabbed what he thought might work and installed it. The more I look at vehicles of the same age and vintage as mine I for the life of me...
It looks the same as mine. Sorry my photos don't show that well. Freezing cold here and truck not nearby to check. That idler pulley isn't anything special. Just pivots up on a single bolt.
I was looking through Cole Hersee's catalog today and they have a lot of very nice switches. Some of the same solenoids that I have in my truck as well. This may also be a good resource. http://www.colehersee.com/
This I think is the battery load controller. It is not from my truck, but it is from a 2008 1078A1. You would think that if I have a photo of it I could find it but...
I'm learning...you indicated that the smaller ones are easily sourced and replaceable if they go bad, that's a good thing. I just need to ID the part number and get that off Cole Hersee's site. Therefore, in addition to finding out what they go to, I need to learn how to test to see if a...
Many thanks once again. You have mentioned more than once about the box under the "spare tire" so I have no excuse now than to look. What do these solenoids do? The "one in the back", are you talking about the newish looking one? It is Cole Hersee part number 24812 called a 12V Insulated...
OK, I'm giving up trying to ID these parts on my own and ask for help.
This is the photo of my battery disconnect box. It is the box to the rear of my main battery box. It was terribly packed full of mud when I got it but I cleaned it out.
In that box there is the main battery disconnect...
