Perhaps someone with experience can give me some tips on taking down the spare tire because I've never done it on my 1078A1.
I have the operators manual for the 1078 which is dated 1998 and when I look at the photos in Section III, 3-5 on how to accomplish this it looks like there is an arm...
Congratulations!
I replaced my headlamps with Truck-Lite, 7" round LED lights. They are far superior to the originals, nice and clear and bright. There is not a number on the box but their website is www.truck-lite.com, 800.562.5012...
Expected you to at least honk when you passed through Indianapolis, but happy to hear that aside for minor issues you're doing well. "Brutus" not a bad name choice.
I have never checked my mileage. Honest truth. I know from owning a couple old Land Cruisers that if I drive em at 55 I do much better than at 65 or 70 and I'm not offended by those who seem to be in a hurry to pass; I just let them. So I assume that there is some savings if I don't push this...
The gearing in my 1078A1 was changed and I can easily do 70 mph, I also installed cruise control. Seventy miles an hour is way to fast in this type of vehicle so I usually set it on 55 or 60 and cruise down the road.

Do you remember where you purchased the "tool"? First time I attempted to loosen my lug nuts no length of cheater bar would work. At least in my hands. I had to turn to the 1" impact wrench. I need to get my hands on a big torque wrench to reset them to proper specs.
Addendum: I now see, after...
Thank you, your response is well written and clear to me. I understand what you are saying about parasitic load as well. What took me down this path in the first place may or may not be related to that point.
I parked my my truck for about an 8 week period this summer. When I came back the...
I appreciate your technical insight in this regard. I was looking and hoping for an easy solution. When I charged my batteries in the past I disconnected all the terminals and charged each individually. It took time and effort to do this, but my takeaway from what you said is that this is the...
I am interested in how you would hook up a suitable 24V charger to charge the entire battery bank (all 4 simultaneously, not disconnected). To that end, If you take a voltage reading from the left rear battery positive battery post to the right front battery, negative post you get 24VDC. This is...
Perhaps a redundant post to the above, but I too am deeply interested in information on the A1's as mine is 2008 vehicle. If anyone can point us in the right direction it would be more than appreciated.
I need to install a couple of fans in the cab of my 1078 LMTV for passenger comfort. There seems to be a number of options, even OEM, however, I noticed that the latter are 24 VDC. Does anyone have any experience installing personal fans in the cab and if so, should I look for 24 or 12 Volt...
