Marchplumber,
There is a lot that is left up to the individual agents as to how they offer the vehicle for coverage.
And with that type of "inventive ingenuity" they will get and have coverage. (such as listing as Antiques, or standard chevy blazer for M1009s)
BUT
That comes with more risk than...
Even if you found someone at USAA to write for your M35 I wouldn't do it.
Heck, I would not get any USAA insurance products since their reorganization after their merger.
I had USAA since I was 16 (1983) and every interaction with them was good up until they reorg-ed.
Quite frankly, I think the...
Why would you not stay original to the design?
What is gained by cutting out the position indentations?
I would think that long term risk is that its another exposed edge where corrosion can start.
Gentlemen,
Thank you for sharing your experience and the developed TTPs.
Especially sharing them on a holiday (Happy Easter).
My melancholy over this predicament is greatly dispelled! :)
Gem,
WOW, that was an Ultra-fast response.
Happy Easter and Thank you.
I will try that that.
I have another broken plug tip that is still lodged in the glow plug "port?"
I was thinking of two COAs
1. hand cranking that cylinder to BDC and then "bumping" it in hopes it shoots out (yeah same bad...
Gem1410,
Back a while ago (2017) you had this issue (broken glow plug tip fell out of the Glow Plug hole.
Well here in 2020 I have the same issue.
How did you correct yours?
Was it in the Pre-Chamber?
With some shame, I can tell you what I have done.
So I followed some advice...
A guy on the...
Hello,
I need the following for my M1009:
Radiator
Before all other things I need one good condition (holds pressure)
1. Dashboard (dashboard pad) with mounting clips.
2. Body Panels (see my post "New to me M1009" for pictures)
a. Lots...
3. Weatherstripping
a. Window seals and channels...
C130Guy,
Off post housing is always more desirable.
But find a place AND save money?
I don't know your situation but if you are doing that, that's awesome.
When we got here places were insanely, I say INSANELY, overpriced not just to buy but rent too. That is if we were anywhere near Ft Bragg...
CUCVRUS,
I hear what you are saying.
As far as what I want, a frame-off, super resto is not what I want (even if I could afford it.)
Most likely somewhere in between a trailer-queen and Terminus.
I want the body work done to the point there are not big ole holes in the vehicle and it doesn't...
Mullaney,
Roger, I am about the same in the set of automotive skills. Besides even if I could do body work, I live in on-post housing. I cannot have a vehicle disassembled in my yard or the parking areas. As far as the MWR auto-skills shop, they do not allow any body work on vehicles with CARC...
So my M1009 CUCV odessy with this, my first M1009, started in early 2017 after I got back from Afghanistan.
It started with a conversation with a friend -A story that starts like many others, right?-
He had this "Army Blazer."
He was going to build it up for his son, but the kid started dating...
Thanks for sharing your calculus for why you opted for doing the topend.
I agree that without knowing more about your motor, breaking down in the wilderness... that could be really bad. (bring a mountain bike?)
79Vette,
Can I ask what factored into your decision to do the topend on your motor before placing your turbo in your 1009?
I do not have hardly any miles on my 1009, I think its 5,800 miles, and as such I am not sure it really warrants it.
Looking at it the other day, gosh I have a ton of work...
79Vette,
I finally got my 1009, titled, plated and down to me, what an odyssey that has been! (but that's another story..)
I saw your post from last fall about your turbo & A/C project.
You now have got the A/C in, good deal. I imagine that will feels great in SoCal summers.
I want to put in...
