    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Another 1300 mile round trip, this time down to LA to picka part. I was able to find through a fellow 809er an in the can 6453 transmission. This is the same transmission that is stock to my rig, the 5 speed with an overdrive, but this will be one with some synchros that actually work. :) I...

    M35A2 Bed Clearance Over Tires

Remember some guys here may be running different size tires that will change this clearance need. I know with my M813 that running 16.00R20s the bed and tires with no modifications will hit the bed just barely. So I booted my bed up 3" from stock. If you plan on running 395 that may be a...

XM816 Wrecker - Only Took Ten Years

@Flyboy207 I bought the "M35 kit" for my rig from @fuzzytoaster here in SS. This kit does not "fix" the sprag issues necessarily, it works as following: When the"Kit" is installed it allows you to cut supply air to the Sprag switching valve on the transmission and importantly, release/exhausts...

XM816 Wrecker - Only Took Ten Years

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/transfer-box-air-shift-x-sprag-operation.207004/post-2411381 This is a good read for Sprag operation. If you have any questions shoot me a note. Just follow this two rule law: NEVER allow the rig to roll backwards when in a forward gear. EVEN IF THE CLUTCH...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

Yup just like that. You just need to ensure the original power steering pressure meets the requirement. This is how I have seen it installed in other rigs. If you are fretting about it and think the steering box will have too much of a drop you will need to run a 2nd pump but from what I see...

5 Ton M809 series transmission & Clutch swap

5 Ton M809 series transmission & Clutch swap

Preparing to fix a clutch issue and will be swapping the transmission at the same time. Anyone have some pointers on what to watch out for or what you recommend to definitely replace when doing this? I was thinking to replace the clutch disc, and the throw-out bearing on the carriage thing, the...

    M51A2 trouble shooting

The Technical Manual section of SS has all those wiring diagrams. I have found most everything in there. Troubleshooting stuff for odd stuff like this clutch... not so much but lots of details on wiring etc... you should be able to find it in the TM section.

    My m925a1 build "Brutus"

Very unusual for one of these trucks to ever go on a diet and to loose weight and 1000 lbs at that! Man that is impressive! ;)

    M51A2 trouble shooting

@5ton-Ulysses How exactly did the throw out bearing fail? Just curious. Nice info... was looking though the TM's for a solution to my clutch no longer disengaging and found a reference on this thread for that rotochamber....which my rig does not have but, this may be the same problem I am...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Had a great outing with the local MV guys here in Utah. I had to drop out a day early due to some clutch disengagement issues. The peddle lever connects to a shaft that is mounted to the top of the frame and a shorter shaft then pushes a forked rod that connects to the actual clutch fork. I...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Wheeling up Rattlesnake canyon was a blast. The snow and mud were excellent. The BOT was full and then some at this heavy feeding of the goo!

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Was warmer weather today, Installed the longer cargo bed flex bolts, due to the cargo bed being 2 3/4 inches higher than it was before. I bought Grade 8 5/8" x 11" (originals were 10"). I could only get 3 of the 4 put down through the mount due to space between the bed and the brackets so I...

    1970 M818 Winch

Very happy for you! Wishing I could find the rest of the winch parts I need on this side of the States. So far I have driven 2330 miles for my rig, 1730 for my 3 MV generators, 800 for some spare parts, and 1470 for my S-280 shelter. Best wishes!

An easier way to turbo an M800 truck

On the 3 piece exhaust manifold: Is this the same one used by @US6x4 for his setup? Also you mentioned you needed to drill holes in it for dowels? What was the need for drilling if that is what you did. I was thinking to use a Ht60 turbo and from what I can tell they look like the mounting...
