During our recent "hard freeze" in South Texas I had a small leak develop in my fuel tank so I was forced to get it repaired. I had my local welding shop patch and reinforce the holes and then used a KBS Coatings coating kit. It did a great job and while I was working on this spot, I decided...
I took some reference photos when I disassembled my winch but my camera took a demp. When the brake band is reassembled does the spring go between the tabs of the brake band or between the housing and the band tab? It is hard to tell from the TM diagram.
I purchased a 24V BatteryMINDer a week ago and, not being an electrical guru, am a little overwhelmed with the insturction manual. If anyone is currently using one, I have a few questions:
1. What connection method (clips, ring terminals, etc.) are you using?
2. Are you using the optional...
I am reassembling my front winch and have a question about the drum seal at the gearcase. The TM says the seal mounts to the gearcase but mine is installed on the gearcase side of the drum. Am I missing something?
My deuce came with two Exide batteries that appear to be new and have never failed to start the vehicle. I am refurbishing my battery compartment and thought I will charge them since I have not run the vehicle much over the last two months.
Question is: do you remove the cell caps during...
Our unusual cold temperatures in south Texas has caused several leaks on my deuce. One of these is the fuel tank. After a night of 9 degrees I noticed a small frozen spot under my fuel tank and as it warmed up, I noticed a slight drip spot of the bottom of the tank. The spot was a slight...
I reviewed serveral threads about replacing the o-rings in the fuel nozzle but could not find any info on o-ring size. Any new info available?
Also, my plan is to remove the snap ring end but do not plan to remove the nozzle at the other end to avoid dealing with those small parts. Will this work?
With our recent low temperatures in South Texas my deuce had developed some strange leaks. One of them is a coolant leak that I isolated at the two water manifold hoses. (See pic) I tightened them with seems to help but I want to change them to be sure. According to the 20 TM, the hoses can be...
I have two shackle and pin connectors on my deuce and I have a question about how they should be connected. The parts (see photo) have the pin going into the shackle but there is no component holding the pin in. It seems like there should be some type of detent. What am I missing?
Being that this is my first deuce and TM 10 does not answer this question directly, here goes.
My light and turn signals work fine but I have two questions.....
First, do you have to turn on the light switch for the turn signals to work?
Second, do you have to manually return the turn signal...
Ever since I got my deuce I have been wondering how larger drivers get comfortable in the drivers seat. I am 5'9" and normal weight and there is not much room between the spring seat and the steering wheel. How do larger drivers fit? Oh! and yes I have adjusted it every way possible.
Most of the screws holding my radiator shroud on radiator have broken off and the only way I know to fix the problem is to remove my radiator. I have copied and studied the 20 TM section on cooling system maintenance but still have a few questions after searching past posts.
1. Do you have...
I am continually working to build a assortment of tools that will allow me to handle most problems when they arise on the road. I have been considering a set of compressor wrenches. Are they a good item to have in your tool box?
I started reassembling my winch today and somehow lost the spring that sits behind the ball bearing detent of the lever. Does anyone know how long the spring is?
I am following TM 9-2320-361-34 in attempting to inspect my winch and replace all the seals and gaskets. I am not trying to remove the shifter fork and woodruff key from the shifter shaft. I removed the fork set screw and can move it out far enough to remove the ball and spring from the end...
I have been reviewing the threads on Hub Flipping prior to starting mine and I have one question. When you flip the hub, does the inner bearing become the outer and vice versa? I assumed you just reversed the hubs and studs.
