I just put one in my 929a2 a couple weeks ago. Went to Cummins dealer and ordered one. Had to drain coolant and pop out freeze plug. Pretty easy! While your at it you can add the coolant filter while its drained. I drained mine, flushed, installed block heater, coolant filter and base, and...
If that's all it needs I will be happy! The M817 will need a few more parts but I thought it was in pretty good shape. All those trucks were selling pretty cheap till the last few minutes. I was hoping to buy the other m817 for parts but it went to high too fast for me.
I scored a USMC M817 and a National Guard M818. Now I just need it to warm up so I can pick them up! -4 degrees tomorrow so it will have to wait a few days.
You can't hardly pull a loaded trailer with the 817 with the 1000rpm drop from 3rd to 4th gear. My 929a2 pulls my tag trailer and my 18 ton excavator a lot better but I don't have any mountains here.
I think the 929 weighs a little more so you will lose a little on what what you can legally carry. It really depends what your doing and how much you want to spend. If I was hauling out of a rock quarry and running down paved roads the 929 is hands down better. If I was doing mainly off-road I...
I Had an m817 and now have a 929a2 and use it almost daily. They will haul 12-13 of smaller aggregates(sand, dirt, gravel) tons with sideboards. 8-9 tons of rip rap, concrete tear out etc. The beds on the m817 and 929a2 are the same size. The wheelbase is a little longer on the m929. I haul quit a...
Added a coolant filter but I'm not sure its plumbed right. I have the filter base INLET tee'd into the heater line coming from the right side front of the motor down low behind the water pump. The filter OUTLET is tee'd into the heater line that's midway down the right side of the block next to...
Just finished this install on my 929a2 with the 8.3L but I think I plumbed it in backwards. I plumbed the inlet on the filter base to the bottom of the water pump and the outlet to the side of the block next to the block heater. Right or wrong? Thanks
I saw a Abbot sell on ebay for what I thought was very reasonable. I would have bid if I would have known some more about how hard it would be to get it out of Canada. What are the rules for getting something like that into the US out of Canada? What are the Canadian rules for selling one of...
Tried my 817 tonite and now those lights arent working. On my 817 I ran yellow leds in the same mount and wiring for weeks without any problems. Switched out to the red ones and now they don't work. ??
These lights also came on while in my hand not grounded!??? Possibly 12V? Also had one light that wouldn't work yesterday so I brought it in the house and tried it today and it worked for a little while and then quit. When it first came on it was really dim then got bright. Any Ideas??
Yeah these have 2 holes that have the ground plate. I can hook them directly to the battery and put a jumper from battery to the little post that the ground holes go to and nothing. 1 light works but very intermittantly.
