I run 1oz of outboard 2 stroke oil(ashless) per gallon of diesel. I've been doing this for years with nothing but great results with all my diesels!
As for the other question I don't have a solid answer.

Yeah its fully welded along every edge. That's big reason for keeping this one lol. Removing all that will be a major undertaking.

Saturday update!
I cut out my rear window opening
Put in a cross brace for lower window.
Got the window in and tacked.
Got all the remaining pieces aligned and tacked.
Welded them all in permanently.
Hand formed a rain hat and side cap for the rear!
Drilled holes to attach top via factory...
