I'll admit I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE A VOLTAGE METER.
But, when a SS Member says hey try using a "test light" and do this.:deadhorse:
A test light is a dollar at the dollar store!
A test light is a 1.50 at Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, Napa ETC.
When someone is trying to help you and says what's...
:ditto: I agree, I tried! When mine failed they failed real fast! I tested mine BY HOOKING UP A DAM dollar store test light... Hook the Alligator Clip on the 12 volt terminal Block DIAMOND SHAPE, right above the Glow Plug Relay. Touch a glow plug end, THE END is where the green wire female...
My washer fluid does the same thing now.
It used to pump like 3 or 4 squirts them stop pumping.
I had to turn off the wipers of course.
I don't believe any of ours work when you push the washer select forward
to mist and wipe say 3 times and stop all on it's own!?
If I was to take the...
OK that fine.
Your plugs are still DEAD.aua
Cheat it going every time now - RIGHT? Tell us Wrong.
Putting that sensor in is great but doesn't resurrect the Glow Plugs,
Oh and check your new BIG card under the dash in the BIG black box.
Dead now too, get arc'd again!
Let us know about that card...
:ditto:He does need to charge up the batteries, turn the key on and both gen 1 LEFT (Drivers Side) and gen 2 RIGHT (Passengers Side) lights should come on as soon as he turns the key. Just like you stated. As we know he must have the light come on for both sides, for the bulb has to work for the...
Sure sucks you have to buy new glow plugs is right.
That MEANS your system has a fault!
Glow plugs last for years when a system operates correctly.
I know with the military system having the resistors
there is a pain
for once you loose a Glow Plug they all eventually burn up and FAST.
Having a...
I thought the gear reduction starter was 12 volt?
I had my original 24 volt starter rebuilt for 170.00 :hammer:
works great I can't complain.
I had not heard of the gear reduction starter till a few months back!
I drove a couple off fort meade MD no issues.
I was lucky I never checked the drive shafts!
Those 2 trucks ran great, still got them.
I do know that if they don't run they pick em up with a forklift
Thanks Jack asses.
Like I said I been REAL LUCKY
not the m1028, only the 1028a2 and 1028a3
my family has a bunch of the M1028's (shelter carrier trucks)
they are a m1008 with more leaf springs.
They also have the 208 aluminum transfer case, you have the 205 with cast iron make with a PTO shaft.
So bolt a pair on. Make a fender extender or...
won't hit you obviously... [thumbzup]
well, I'll be.
I was just quoting what I was told.
I was specifically told not to jump or be jumped from the slave cable port up front after doing the resistors bypass.
I don't have any tools that run off that 24 volt port,
or slave cables to jump...
maybe the gpr stuck closed and juiced them to death?
Do the resistors bypass <-----------this may be your issue.
research - search search search[thumbzup]
NO to that part # use the s603 for 28.00
it is the same as the Napa st85 for 85.00 IDENTICAL :grd:
NO bypassing to any relay, except the Starter Solenoid "starter relay" some call it. When you go to a 12 volt starter you don't need this ac40 relay anymore.
And no to bypassing the GPR...
You take the big read wire, passengers side of the resistors - off the 24 volt terminal buss block. Now take the red wire off the Glow Plug Relay (GPR) on the drivers side of the resistors. Now remove the resistors from the firewall behind the Air Cleaner. Take the resistors cover off...
chattering, hmmmm could it be the GPR? I think I remember reading something on here about "chattering" sound, dash ...
or was it the Starter Solenoid - RELAY under the dash CENTER by 2 smaller relays! AC40 part number, I could be wrong it might be the Glow Plug Relay.
s603 GPR advance auto parts...
That's because the plugs aren't drawing because they're dead!
should be showing 12-14 volts when the resistors and all 8 plugs work.
the plugs are essentially resistors themselves.
your Resistors OR SOMETHING is allowing to much voltage to the (12 volt) glow plugs. I have read on here I believe...
Take a test light - hook the small clip to the 12 volt terminal block (diamond shaped) it's right above the GPR.
(take the wire off a GP)
touch the end of the test light to the end of the GP
does it light up? Touch just the end that you pulled the spade connector off!
Sounds like you burned...
