Its kind of hard to see but the caps look like they sit in the same place and grind that one spot instead of evenly. The slip yoke has no abnormal bearing wear. The drive shaft is at a fairly good angle off the center line and vertical so maybe lowering it may make it more of an angle in one plane.
It completely stock and that is the part that baffles me. A stock truck shouldn't have drive line angle problems but it does.
The yoke isn't scored and seems not to have any play so i don't think that is the problem. I could lower the transfer case but that's where I always get hung up on...
I have been having problems with u-joint wear in the front location of the rear shaft and with the best joints they sell at the local parts store I can get maybe 2500 miles out of it. The rollers show almost no wear but the end of the cap is worn to the point that it has about a 1/16" of play on...
I tow my 18 ft Bayliner (3500lb) with a 1009 every week to the lake perfectly fine. The ramp is a little interesting when the boat drags the truck in with it, so back over the crest of the ramp slowly, but has no problems pulling it out in 2WD. Locking the hubs in before backing down is always a...
that's awesome! I'm building a gin pole for the front of my 42' WC that will use the PTO winch. How much does that implement weigh? Did you have any problems with the load swinging as the truck moved?
I drag a power wagon (8000lb with trailer) around sometimes when I can't find anyone with a 1 ton to pull it and at most its 40 miles. Modified a civilian hitch and use a equalizer to keep the front wheels on the ground. Electric brakes are a must. Definitely not for going up hills and highway...
The real question is if you want to move somewhere that you are not wanted? If its on the books then its probably there for a reason. How is the neighborhood association going to feel when you change your own oil? The key is to talk to the prospective neighbors and see how open they are to...
I just installed a pyrometer and K&N filter and tried going up I-70, 5800-11200FT above see level, again. Even in second gear at about 40 it was at 1200 ° F. Smoke has been reduced to a slight haze from a road covering smoke screen.
These results scare me because the last time I was doing...
Since HP is a function of torque and RPM
I did some calculations-
64HP @ 2000 RPM = 169 Ft lb
putting out the same torque at 3000 RPM it would be around 97HP.
Advertised I believe is 200 Ft Lb @ 3000 RPM so 114 HP, which is what I believe a 1008 would have done on the same test due to the 60MPH...
64hp
It did seem to work better without the air pre-cleaner but, not much. The fuel filter was replaced the day after I picked it up. I just got it dynoed today for the emissions and was surprised with 64HP at 60MPH (around 2000RPM). I no longer question the lack of power. Another guy there had...
I'm new to CUCV's and diesels and I've had my 1009 driving for about a month around town and love the 19.5 mpg compared to my 69 C10 which gets about 10mpg. I decided to take it from Denver to Grand Junction to visit a friend and see how it did off-road. Needless to say it would only do about...
