I just won a deuce out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. I'm about 480 miles to the south.
If someone could go down and see if it has oil and if it will start (if you have means of jumping it), I would be extremely grateful. What's your favorite beer?
If it will start, I plan to come up with a...
What's the biggest overdrive gear you could fit in the transmission?
I was just thinking of different ways to achieve a little greater top end speed without major, irreversible changes to the truck.
Second question: What kind of top speed increase do you think could be made with a larger...
I was going to replace the wipers on my whistler with the wipers from my REO parts truck today, but discovered that one of the REO wiper motors was completely seized up.
Took it apart, but had to cut one of the o-rings to get the piston out. It's also going to need another gasket or two.
What...
I just had a wild hair...
Considering that some people have successfully mounted a second alternator (12V) on a bracket for vehicles accessories in their deuces... why not put an alternator that can handle some serious amps?
What's the most amount of power you could reasonably expect to...
I've been told that running WMO in a deuce isn't the best thing for the injectors due to the zinc and phosphorous found in motor oil that won't burn up.
How bad of a problem is this? Is there a way to mitigate this problem? Say, only run WMO/Gas mixture in every other tank and run the diesel...
I went the former military vehicle registration route a few months ago. Paid a bunch of "fees" got a plate in the mail 3 weeks later.
Well now a friend of mine just went the same route, but he got a registration sticker with his paperwork and a plate.
Was I supposed to get a registration...
I just got my 1009 from Minot with the transmission in the back. It's "bad" according to the yellow grease pencil diagnosis written on it.
Well, I showed it to a friend and he said "that's a 700r4." He seemed pretty sure.
I thought they were all TH-400s? What's the deal?
What are my...
I want to see what it looks like.
Eventually, I would like to return my 383 green with tan and grey camo back to it's original vietnam-era OD semi-gloss.
However, I'm not interested in going for canvas tops. I'm not interested in shelling out so much money for something that's just going to...
My temperature gauge was not working. So I replaced it with the one from my parts truck.
I ran the truck for a few minutes and watched the needle slowly move up. Shut her down at 170. Problem solved.
Out of curiosity, I took the "bad" gauge and switched my multimeter over to resistance...
Harbor freight and northern tool only have models capable of handling up to 3.5" OD bearings.
I can't recall exactly with size the deuce wheel bearings are, but I know they're bigger than that.
I've got some other deuce and a halfs I'm going to try to sell this year. Being the greedy, capitalist running dog that I am, I'd like to get the most amount of money for them possible.
So, would any of you pay extra for a deuce that you knew had just had a complete 12k mile service done on...
Trying to adjust one of my front brake shoes today (passenger side) and I could not for the life of me figure out which cam adjusted the tops and which adjusted the bottoms.
I ran out of light, so I just turned the cams to where the wheel would spin freely and jacked her down for the night.
I won a couple of M105A2s the other day and I'm entertaining possibilities for retrieval.
I have an 18 ft trailer that has 83" of clearance between the rails. So I *might* be able to bring them both back on that, but it would be a really tight squeeze.
I really don't NEED two trailers, so if...
Ok, I've read some bits and pieces here and there, but nothing that lays it all out for a real dummy like me.
My goal: Upgrade to longer-lasting, modern construction tires. A slight diameter size increase would be nice, too. I'd like to be able to do 55 without redlining the tach. I'd also...
My poor, naked deuce *pictures*
Before and after
This is the one out of san antonio that was listed as a 1952 REO.
I have no idea if that's accurate, but enough stuff was different about it, including the serial number that leads me to believe that it might have started life as a 50s era...
Hey, what's the size and length of the bolts for the two brackets for the generator?
Also, what nuts do I need? what washers and what size?
If you tell me this, I will tell you a funny and embarrassing story...
picked up my last deuce today...
...and had to call a wrecker about 30% of the way home. Ugh.
She's at a storage facility close by where I had to shut her down. Oil pressure was slowly and steadily dropping, so I shut her down before anything really bad happened.
Oil pressure started off at...
I had to get insurance before I could register or title the vehicle. So I went ahead and did so and just threw a wild guess as to the age of the vehicle. I told the insurance company that it was made in 1966.
Well, I then got the actual year from Carnac. So I put that (1970) on the SF97 and...
I need two bows and I've never bent wood before now, so I figured this would be a good excuse to learn how.
I've seen the kooky traditional woodworker bend wood on his PBS show, so I've got a rough idea of how to do it... but I don't have a way to steam 45" lengths of wood.
Will simply soaking...
I've got a truck with a D turbo and a truck with a C turbo.
Someone wants to buy the C turbo truck but they don't care whether it has the C or the D turbo in it. I kind of like the whistle sound.
So how hard is it to swap em? Just unbolt and bolt?
Or does the injector pump need to be timed...
