    LED Aux/Work Light Question

Gimp has some nice regular work/flood (50w) lights for a very modest price. They're not LED & the modest price reflects that.

Wheel removal for wheel cylinder replacement advise

Yes, a pallet jack works too. Tow4 still had to use a sheet of plywood to roll the jack on. I have all the jacks now, & a shop to use them in, but I was once "young and pennyless" too. I may be dumb Floridianson, but I learned the trick as a kid, helping a real mechanic. It help me by...

Wheel removal for wheel cylinder replacement advise

The most elementary way to get to that wheel cylinder is to leave the wheels where they are & take the axle out & wheel bearings loose, etc. You have it jacked up to do that/& parked, etc. Get a sheet of plywood/osb & grease a track so the wheels, tires, drum, hub assembly can slide on the...

5 ton Bobsled, Recovery assistance near Berkeley Springs WV

Over the years, I've done a bunch of pulls/recoveries. The technique that sticks with me best is: "Do your BEST on the 1st try"! It might be some extra work (like chaining up), but that its far better then mucking something up. I would say, don't try a winch pull (backwards using gravity to...

Running MEP-OO2A in this blizzard questions

That's a good point Bill. There isn't that much clearance from the top to the tarp ceiling. With the ASK on it, I wouldn't be afraid to run it out in the open rather then melt a hole in my tarp. Blowing snow should be well shielded from it, inside the ASK enclosure - it should be toasty warm...

    m35a2c starter issue

Do you have a starter relay? Have you checked with a meter where you have current? Can you jump it by shorting (on the starter) , between the hot battery lead & the starter solenoid? It could be connections not making good contact.

    My 1954 M37

Yes, nice truck. Welcome to the forum. Where did you get the tires?

    750 flaps on 900 rims?

I have to assume they are for 16" wheels - that said, see how wide they are. Sometimes, there is not too much difference. If they don't fit properly, you will pay for it down the road, by chaffing the tube, causing failure. If your not thoroughly familiar with how they should fit (a lot of...

Car trailer for 2 1/2 ton truck

The truck will do a whole lot more, then many give it credit for. This trailer weighs 5000#, and needs to be to follow a Deuce. Many commercially made car hauling trailers are very light. Its equipped with electric brakes & 10 ply tires w/7000# axles w/Led lights. The Motor Pool trailer...

    Fording Project

Mine was fitted with something like that along the way (a small pressure regulator & valve, connected to a pull cable - all mounted to the air line into the clutch housing), but the 1/8 NPT opening is on the front side, just above the winch drive shaft. It makes me wonder if other bell housings...

    stuck in 1st gear

Keep thinking about this: If the tranny is dry, the fork might be stuck/not wanting to sllde on the rail. When the whole tranny is worn, & popping out of gear, either in "power on", or decelleration, the shifting forks get warn on the end, therefor not sliding the gears far enough to lock them...

    stuck in 1st gear

If the shifter is worn, it can be stuck in two gears at once, which locks it up. Pulling the shifter, should be 1st. Then the big screwdriver trick as m16ty suggests. (make sure you can stop it from rolling) If the weight of the vehicle has rolled against the locked transmission, you may...

Front bumper storage. Looking for ideas?

I'd sure like to see how you hung that tow bar under there. I'm sure tired of tripping over mine in the bed.

    Deuce clutch replacement

I don't remember, but its not a special thread. No doubt fine thread "NF", and if I had to guess, its 7/16, or 3/8, but maybe 1/2". The 8" part is harder to find. I used that trick, but already had something that would work. Just cut the head off a bolt, and your off & running.

    Troubleshooting M1010 fuel-fired heater?

I have worked on these things over the decades -- they can be touchy, and I by no means understand them. While they are all basically on the same principal, there are numerous models. Their failures have been for numerous reasons - never the same. Sometimes something just sticks & no worky...

    A Frame Crane(s)?

I have an M37 sized boom on my M37, much like the one in the picture, but without the 2nd winch. It has the headache rack - a must have option. It will pick a ton & move with it. 2 tons with jack stands under the bumper. Safe? I don't know, but nothing is safe, unless one uses care. The...

    Block heater making noise

Its normal for a heater to hiss & snap & pop, especially when you just plug them in. The more heat you put on them, the better they start.

Who has a receiver on their 5t?

I don't have a 5 Ton, but the issue is still similar on a Deuce -- additional hitches. Unless you intend to abandon the use of your main hitch, be thoughtful of what you hang back there. Pictured is the tongue & pintle ring of an M989 Ammo trailer. The ring part is not unlike many equipment...

    50 A outlets on generator

The various recepticals, each have their own breaker appropriate for the amperage they draw. Their mounted in the boxes behind the plug-ins. The box with the plug-ins was scavenged from the junk pile, with a "fabed" face plate. The hard-wired pigtail, plugs into & energizes the plug-in...
