    White buildup on turbo.

Slobber is nothing new. Some engines are worse then others, especially if you don't work them much - then when you do, you can see that sort of thing. Here, I run a 195* thermostat, because of the serious temps, encountered. I work mine a lot, & sometimes on several mean hills (on the way to...

    White buildup on turbo.

From that particular spot & pattern, I'd say some exhaust slobber that is finely burning off, after you get underway.

    M931 Trailer air brakes

The early trailers used a "relay emergency" trailer valve. When the trailer air supply drops below 60 psi, it will apply the trailers brakes, or, when you disconnect it from the supply, it will automatically apply the the trailer's brakes/as in a break-away. If you have the tractor's/truck's...

jerking at partial load, where to look?

    Change the fuel filters.

    Plastic air lines

Its DOT rated air line. Its nearly bullet proof - heat being its most vulnerable aspect. Its s vast improvement over copper lines, especially when it comes to vibration & abrasion. I have even used it as fuel line on farm equipment. It takes (not too special) fittings, but still! Most is...

    Trailer size, for hauling excavator?

I back av80r's opinion about the M989 trailer. One can talk about weight ratings, but the MV stuff is always under rated, where the Civi stuff is over-rated - especially for light duty or mid-range trucks. The M989 is built tough, is full air brake with spring pots & has many options, like...

    stuck kingpin cap

When axle flanges have the tapered cones, the way to loosen them, is to smack the end of the axle with the big hammer. They can be a bugger to get free.

    stuck kingpin cap

As above, and bump the corners. Straight downward bumps work too.... sometimes.

Instant bad odor when front axle was engaged.

Sounds like a standard Deuce. Keep after it, and don't give up. There will always be something else, and when it doesn't leak, it will probably be out of oil.

    Brake light switch

I don't doubt what Federal Guidelines are, but were all well aware that many of our older MV's never met them, in often, many ways. With the air gauge that max's out @ 120, with its pointer buried in the top end, its only speculation, what one's top pressure is. A reliable gauge fitted with a...

    Brake light switch

Rusty - I wasn't aware that the Deuces air system was supposed to reach 120 PSI. The gauge is only rated to 120#, and I have never seen a gauge installed to Max out with normal operating pressure. Of course the OTR truck gauges read out @ 150#. My truck cuts out @ about 100#. I have always...

    trailer brake controller

Brake controller Yes .... one of the earlier Tekonsha (4 or 5 years old) controllers. I just tapped 12 volts from the lower battery. I don't make it a habit of using a lot of power that way, but thought its so seldom used, that I could get by that way... and it works fine. The trailer...

    Deuce High beam issue

Sounds like you don't have a multimeter, and your depending on blowing breaker, to tell you/us whats happening! The insulation on all those wires in your truck, is there to "keep the smoke from leaking out", and your REAL close to having that happen. I don't know the numbers, off hand, and...

How does the shutter stat work?

Find out 1st, does air hold the shutters open or closed? Not familiar with your particular truck..... shutters & the fan can work either way: Nominally "open", or nominally "closed". If all air is bled out of the truck, you will know something. Open or closed. Fan free or held tight? On...

    Deuce High beam issue

Lets see..... If you put the low beams ON, then the Hi beam indicator light should be "open" to the dimmer. If you take its bulb out, you should not have continuity to ground, in that wire to the dimmer switch. It would be a relief to know that, as I would rather track a short from the dimmer...

    6TL batteries not fully charging

On a "New to You" truck, I'd start cleaning battery terminals & grounds to frame & block. I don't care how good they look.... poor connections will will cause the same problems!

List of Trailer mounted generator accessories

One thing that I have in my kit, that is non-issue, is a couple of clamps, in case there is something that is acceptable to ground to (other then driving that ground rod. One is a spring clamp, as from a battery jumper cable, and the other is a 4" C-clamp.

    M35 preferred engine

They're the same engine - different manufacture - built to the same contract. Parts are interchangeable. If it weren't for the Mfg's tag, they would be hard to tell apart. Some have slight modifications, such as the "C" turbo, vrs the "D" turbo.

    Winch drum not turning?

With PTO disengaged, dog clutch out, can you pull out a little line, free wheeling? Do it, then have Soldier 2 stand clear, with you in cab on controls, & have him engage dog clutch with steady hand pressure, with winch in low, at idle. He should feel it engage. Otherwise, with all that has...
