We've all done some crazy things in the past that we wouldn't do again, but yep that wouldn't be safe.
I bought a Deuce once that had a froze up air pack that I didn't realize until I tried to stop. Did make it home the 50 miles. Flat towed a M1009 with another M1009, made it home with that one...
I saw that figure too. and one company that made them says 18'. It made me think there were different versions. I thought they had the same tires as the HEMTT too, since that was what is intended to tow it, but I've not seen any of these trailers up close. Pictures showing the HEMTT towing one...
I thought the requirement was strange at 1st too, but we're dealing with the military directly on this. Starting bid was $50 on them and the reserve price was $100. That doesn't make much sense to me either, especially considering what the military pays for their stuff. I think the sales were...
Yes, they won't let them be towed off. I have a trailer that will haul 24k. It's the length, specifically wheelbase that is my concern. I didn't see that in the TM either.
If you have one of these trailers....would you measure yours? Many thanks!
The last sale is over. There have been at least 4 sales on GSA auctions that I saw so far, about 20 trailers each sale. They are the HEMTT trailers, but they call them at the army depot M989. I thought that before the a1 was added they might have been just M989, but it sounds like the HEMAT...
These trailers are selling by the dozens in CA for under $500. I'm not sure if they are M989, or the M989a1. Is there a difference in dimensions, and tire size? Especially interested in the wheelbase of them since it would need to be hauled. Thanks
Everything seems to be fixed as I type this. They agreed to ship it in a box, now I'm waiting for them to tell me the size and weight to send them a label. I will say everyone I've personally dealt with has been polite. All but one was very polite, and that one only let out some long sighs, if...
I've talked to a few people from Gov planet, Iron planet, and Ritchie Bros today. They told me to wait for the email to be answered, that I sent them a week ago. When I sent it the email info said it would be answered in 24 to 48 hours. I sent an email question about a different listing I was...
I've called their customer care. They told me they can't do anything, I need to email the warehouse site. Which I have done, sent an email to gov planet website also. Today I got a courtesy reminder that I haven't paid. What I've found interesting about the items they sell is how neglected by...
Do they answer email questions? I have asked 3 times recently but never got a response. I won something and asked about shipping....crickets. My mistake that I assumed the item would be parcel shipped like others sold. Looks like I'll get a black mark, but even tho I bid too much, I'd pay for...
It's been soaking for a couple days, and I can tell it's stuck. Although I can't look down inside the engine, there must be a cam down in there that the roller on the bottom of the pump rides on. I figure the pump should move a half inch or a little more. The portion of the pump that moves with...
Those were exactly my thoughts. If a vehicle was cannibalized there wouldn't likely be a crate to store it in either. It would go straight into the vehicle that needed it. I'm trying to picture a scenario where a good tank is removed and put into a crate that a new tank came out of.....but...
After taking a break from this project, I pulled out the injection pump today. I'm going to soak it in penetrant, and carb cleaner. I can't actuate the pump by hand making me believe it's stuck. My question is should I be able to move it freely by hand? When I took out the 3 nuts holding it down...
Fuel tanks come up occasionally, and sometimes in the crate, and sometimes not, but they look used. I was trying to figure out why a fuel tank would be removed from the vehicle in the 1st place if it was good. I was apprehensive to bid thinking there must be something wrong with it. I can't...
Hello,
I just picked up what looks like the same unit. It is a 2009 PowerSystems unit with the John Deere 3 cyl engine. After adding coolant and oil, and batteries I want to see it run, hope it will. Quite a few hours on it, almost 3K. I'm sure there are do's and don'ts in the starting procedure...
I determined that the spring should open the valve, it's just stuck. There are 2 generators on the trailer. I took the same cover off the other generator engine, and it was stuck too. Pushing as hard as I could with my thumb where the spring would push, this valve popped open, and working it has...
In trying to figure out how the IP operates, I pulled off the cover held on with 2 cap screws. Under that there is a spring, that I think should push down on a rod that opens fuel to the IP. When there is no power to the shutoff solenoid it holds the spring from opening the fuel. When I pull the...
I was going to attempt starting the generator, but when I pulled the dip stick out, water gushed out. It was full of water up to the oil filter. I don't think the engine is stuck. It moved a little. I sprayed lubricant in the exhaust and removed the injector it's soaking. Before I do anything...
I have a MEP002a that I checked to see that it wasn't stuck. It wasn't, but by turning the engine a couple inches, it's very common to damage the IP, I was told. There are no replacement parts for the one I have. I haven't moved this engine yet out of that same fear of damage. I know they are...
