Welcome Nathan. I'm not too far from you-live in Wapello. Mike is down in Lee county and RidingShotgun is up in Washington. A few deuce owners down in your neck of the woods.
Back in my fuel hauling days, a company I interned for trucked fuel to the locomotives at the rail yard. Got to witness the building of many trains, and I can say that the handling of railcars is not gentle. They would get the locomotive up to a good speed, cut maybe 3-4 cars loose, then throw...
Clay pretty much nailed it-2200 rpms is the magic number for my truck. Running at that rpm on level flat ground with stock 9.00x20 tires, I'm hitting 48-50 mph (according speedo bounces a bit). At that point I have more throttle to give and could get to 55 easily, but I want my engine to last...
Talk about speaking the same language and not knowing what is being said. Many years ago I dated a Hungarian gal. I did not speak English, it was American. In her language they had three different terms for English- Angoul for British English, Amerikei for American English (which included...
Sorry if you took offense at my attempt at humor. Detroits are by far the most divisive of diesel engines. People either love them or hate them with a passion. I myself am indifferent to them. Drove several trucks with them and like I said, had to be pissed off to make it perform. They have...
By that, I am assuming you must mean that you gotta slam your hand in the door three times, then stomp your foot on the accelerator, grip the steering wheel like you want to rip it off the shaft, and then go through the gears like you can't get out of there fast enough? My experience with a...
This is one configuration. Most are left hand drive, but the Irish ones are right hand. Some are 6x6. Lots of unique vehicles built on this chassis. Some are firetrucks too.
Are there any of the French-made ACMAT's in collector's hands on this side of the pond? Searching the forums, there is a thread about one of our British members acquiring one from the Irish Defense Forces. But I didn't see anything about them in North America. Thought there might be a remote...
You got a bargain. When a customer asks me about upgrading their older welder like this for a newer one, I try my best to convince them the old machine is a better quality one than what they make today. Doesn't matter if it's miller or Lincoln, they have substituted circuit boards for heavy...
This is what happens with the French try to breed an M35, M715, and swill it with some wine as an aphrodisiac. Product of the breeding experiment is something that can't be described, but might be practical. One of the first times the French came up with something worthwhile. Interesting to...
The sap when it comes out of the tree is basically the consistency of water, and it is clear too. Sap residue is pretty easy to clean, normally a backflush of treated water and a food grade mold inhibitor should do the trick. Maple is only about 2% or less sugar concentration at the tree.
Nope, I'm just putting the sap into the tank. It's empty right now. With it being double walled stainless, it should act as a decent cooler and protect against fluctuating temperatures to a point.
