    m35a2 quiet turbo

There are a small number of ways they can fail as they are pretty simple devices. The posts so far have focused on the wheel not turning properly and what happens as a result. The seals can also fail and leak engine oil into the intake or exhaust. If it leaks into the intake the engine goes...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Rusty I looked back through the threads as I remembered you posting more on the cams. See post 355 on page 36, 367 on page 37, 386 on page 39, and 389 on page 39. Please give me a holler with what you find on the rockers -Brian

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

Thanks ShawnIfert! I haven't followed this thread in a while and was not aware that the LDS and LDT used different rocker arms. When you say the LDS is shorter, can you elaborate? Can you do a pic of each for a side by side comparison? Nice AR-15 mat!

m35a2 runs rough at startup. Need input

My truck would do that when I got it. I found that turning on the lift pump for a minute or two before starting it would limit the rough time to about 30 seconds. I bypassed the FDC and it never happened again. You should also look to see if you have any leaks in the fuel supply lines.

    M35a2 tandem axle stuck!

I went out and measured my truck even though I thought it would be a waste of time. To start with, the lower dog bones and brackets are the same or mirror images if you look at it from the other angle. All of the lowers would have to be exactly the same length or something would be crooked...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

They are called Packard connectors. Eriks has them. http://search.store.yahoo.net/yhst-59523690850641/cgi-bin/nsearch?query=packard&searchsubmit=FIND+IT&vwcatalog=yhst-59523690850641&.autodone=http%3A%2F%2Feriksmilitarysurplus.com%2F If you check the type (male or female), gage, etc...

    M35a2 tandem axle stuck!

I would check the dog bones first and then look for anything else that is loose. Is everything tight and proper under there? You should also check your Trunnion if you haven't already. If you search here you will find a good thread on it. Pull those stamped sheet metal caps in pic 2 and see...

    M35a2 oils

Nice summary! It is a bit of a tangent, yet related to why the oil and other lubricant formulations are not what they used to be. Like many laws and regulations, the use of ethanol in gasoline has outlived its usefulness. When it was first mandated nearly all gasoline powered vehicles were...

    M35a2 oils

Rustystud uses this stuff: http://zddplus.com/ I did some more poking around and it seems to me that the zinc and phosphorus levels as measured in my Chevron Delo LE 15W-40 are good. I say that based on the links below. Also, the complete lack of boron may suggest that they are not adding it...

    M35a2 oils

Zinc additive Thanks Rusty. This begs the question: How much zinc is needed? Does anyone have an analysis of an oil sample with the proper amount of zinc additive? How do you know what ppm level is proper?

    M35a2 oils

Great post! Wow, my report seems to be a bit better than yours. How many hours on your sample? I wonder how good their measurements are and if they are consistent within a given lab or in comparison to another lab. I searched and found http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ They are a bit cheaper...

    M35a2 oils

Thanks! Based on your data point and mine we're in the same neighborhood. Your iron is higher and I wonder if that means abnormal cylinder liner wear. Did your report include the particle sizes? How many hours on your sample? I recall you having some issues a few months ago (oil pressure...

    M35a2 oils

I changed my White LDT-465-1D oil two years ago and used Chevron Delo LE 15W-40. I had 100 hours and 2900 miles since then. I'm burning a blend of a variety of used vegetable oils, used motor oils, used transmission fluids, used gear oils, waste gasoline, #2 diesel, bioddiesel, etc.I changed...

    I broke the front axle

I took mechanic classes in HS. It was really good stuff. We would occasionally have local companies or manufacturers come in and talk tot he class. One of them I found most informative was a fastener manufacturer. They gave us about 3 hours of solid info that I use today. So does anyone...
