Everytime I re-spool cable; I lay it out in a straight line in front of the truck. Attach the hook end to a tree (or other anchor), put the truck in neutral, and have an operator in the cab spool the cable. Have one guy outside the truck with heavy gloves making sure it spools correctly.

Probably would make things much easier in certain situations, but I prefer to always have a second person with me, and doing this clutch...

The troop seat along the front of the bed should go across the entire bed for the M37B1, which is the truck you have.

EDIT: I should clarify, yes the side troop seats should go all the way to the front on the M-37B!
Isn't there a comedy movie from the early 90's where these two "fools" join the army and become purification specialists? It seems to be it was like a dumb and dumber kinda thing....well the reason I mention it is I remember quite a few shots of one of these trucks being used in the film
