for good or bad, the springs are built as such that they will never compress or unload enough to cause any issues, and it's not a rock crawler.:-P
btw: I put them facing this direction because it looked best to me, they could be turned around if any bind issues ever came up. All told they...
Here is a pic of my afore mentioned shackle idea, figured my description was a little vague. works very well...I guarantee you will not find or make a stronger shackle with the adjustable capability.
Ya, i've seen a lot of horsepower go through a TH350 with a tin dust cover and have no trouble. In a way it was ok, there was some less than adequate work that had been done to the drive train underneath and I got the opportunity to correct it.
just hooked up the 4wd light in the 1008, it has been unhooked since I got it because of a broken clip at the transfercase plug. When you put it in 2wd the light goes out for a few seconds and then comes back on....if you smack it in to 2wd a few times it will go out again, but then comes back...
GOT IT DONE!!!
Went in almost without a hitch....the bell housing was not clearanced quite enough for the oddly large nose cone of the starter. Had to dremel it out using my old case as a guide. Also didn't like the way the cooler lines wrap under the converter dust cover, a little bending...
1008 is a great choice, nothing simpler to work on either. the alts are the expensive part, but not too bad. Parts are plentiful in most junkyards aswell. Before looking at any I would suggest you research this forum using the advanced search option below the "who's chatting" box, and try...
If the rear shoes are way out of adjustment side to side it will cause a pull to that side...driver rear adjuster is probably froze up. Your already on the right track...just wanted to add that.2cents
if you dont mind combining 2.5 and 3" springs you can get rid of the bottom leaf (if you have 3 like normal)and get a couple leafs from the rear of an 80's dodge 3/4 ton 4x4, they have a ton of arch and will give about 2.5 inches overall lift. You have to add a couple of those thingy's that keep...
you can also look for a speedo gear/housing to be present on a 2wd case. The 4wd case should just have a freeze plug looking thing block off where that would be. Speedo is in the transfercase on 4wd. Hope it helps.
Ok, the next installment of the tranny rebuild....
pic 1 is the crack in the case about 3/8 of an inch from the bolt hole (hole is for governer gear housing bolt)
pic 2 is what appears to be a nail holding this assembly together, someone else's handy work
pic 3 is the heavy duty casting...
I too am confused how it would look like a 2wd trans...the tailshaft is the kicker. Today I made a 2wd into a 4wd, used the output from the 4wd trans in the 2wd case, perfect fit. It is a little decieving on the output shaft on a 2wd with the tail housing removed....it looks like you could just...
magic...and it's metal...just use vaccum line and a tee to connect it to the other vents from there back. use a hose clamp so it doesn't pull off. If your willing, a 1/2" hole in the floor will allow it to vent near the rear of the truck inside. Sure does get old changing the fluids all the...
