i think there are couple guys running them in the 5ton mods forum, i have 425/65/22.5's for my 923 and picked up 2 wheels today. as long as they are budd stud pilot wheels not newer hub pilots it should be fine
I am also a newbie but I can see why you cant use reverse in the truck in low after driving it for all of 10 mins, reverse is so low in truck and multiplies the torque of engine through the torque converter that in reverse low you literally spread the transfer case apart. I think it probably has...
well I may beat you to drawing it up as I plan something similar for my 923 so both my wife and myself can get in easier (plan on 16r20's also so it will be up even farther than is now on 11r20's)
I was thinking it would stick out or maybe even start with a small gap between the top of it and the bottom of stock step (would still only hang down 3" or so if it had a 2" gap) and then have something like a 10" travel giving you a 12" drop total which would almost half the distance required...
erixun-- those are the exact type I was thinking of in my one post, very simple design to adapt and dont hang down all the time but also have a solid feel when you step on it.
I actually drew up a quick version in paint it, please no picking on my drawing skills lol. I think this step could be...
well like I said before it makes it look 100% better than the bed just sitting on frame, your sons truck is looking good also I like the wheelbase it has.
actually the photo chop i posted with the stacks has 16.00's on it. and no the 800's had manuals but never came with 8.3 and 939s came with allison autos only and only A2 trucks got the 8.3.
so if you want 8.3 it will have to be 939 series A2 but if you want manual it will have to be a 800...
I'm not trying to add fuel to fire here but I do see one other issue with ideas in post #1 (wasnt going to quote that whole mess) Say you do put it as "this auction just ended did you see this about it?" some of these items dont get picked up for whatever reason and get re-listed, some even...
or just heavy chain that you weld a couple of the links together to make a stirrup. I dont like the swing away chain style steps (or cable) because they do make it easier to get in but sometimes getting out your foot can knock them out of the way if you dont land your foot on them perfectly...
They make a spring loaded step that simply folds back up when you step off it, they are usually for getting in the bed of a pickup but would probably be easy to adapt. I agree that the rv step would be easy mod but once in the truck the step would be hard to fold back up, this way it is tucked...
350TacoZilla,
You want to use Dexron. It has tranny additives. Hydraulic tractor fluid usually does not have Tranny additives. Dexron is pretty cheap and easy to find.
so does the traveller tractor fluid, it is designed for autos and has the additives, just like I stated the first time it is...
yeah i was going to be changing it, drive truck about 500 miles then change it again to try and get all the oil out of trans. I was thinking of running the tractor fluid for the 500 mi since it will be getting flushed out anyhow, but the fact it is supposedly recomended for the allisons had me...
Hey guys I also had a question on this but didnt want to start new thread, I was looking at tractor supply other day at their traveller 2 gal dexron 3 fluid for 29.99 when I noticed the "Premium" tractor auto trans fluid 19.99 for 2 gal or 39.99 for 5 gal. The premium fluid states it is 10w-20...
ok picture time, first one is sitting at bikemans I had popped hood to fill power steering next ones are sitting in my parents driveway. I suddenly dont think my moms dodge ram with 4.5" lift and 35's is all that big anymore lol.
I personally think the 395's look better than the 14.00's. The bigger ones you are seeing are probably the 16.00r20's or the odd ball 15.5r20's, 16.00's are 53 tall. I also have a set of 425/65/22.5 rig tires that I think will look nice on the 923 they are 43 tall and about 17 wide.
EDIT: I...
you sure? I have never seen a a1 with anything other than the 2 piece 5 ton combat style rims and 14.00's, same with a2 trucks. I thought only the plain jane 939 trucks got split rims. Biggest difference I saw between fmtv wheels and the a1's was the number of bolts holding them together and the...
