I'm just wondering if anyone knows what would happen if you get pulled over hauling something in bed of a bobbed 5 ton, they look at data plate and it shows 3 axles where you have 2 what do you think they would do about the weight ratings? Also where does the gov get 31600 total weight when...
ty scarecrow I like the looks of the a1 trucks for sure but never really loved the 14.00 tires that come on them and the a2's. I like the shorter fatter look of the 395s and ofcourse the hugeness of the 52's, when i had my 425's on my chevy i joked with everyone they were just a big Goodyear AT...
there are also tons of m923's being cut up for parts and scrap so someone bobbing theirs isnt a waste. If you wanted to keep tandem rears a 931 is right length to start but if you want a true bobber with 1 rear axle then the 923's wheel base seems about right. I also dont agree with the 105 bed...
johnny law in md doesnt seem to like the giant lifted trucks and I decided to use truck more as a dd/work truck than play toy.
actually gearing was good, I sat and figured it all up before ever taking truck apart. Truck stock was 2wd 4spd 350 work truck, when I got it it had been converted to...
Thanks guys BKubu is your 395 a goodyear or michelin ? I'm selling some 395 michelins and plan to put my MVT's on truck, I would love to check out your trucks as I have said on here I wanted a A2 truck for the 8.3 but thought I should get what I can afford not sit around wishing I had the money...
I should point out I'm kinda a tire fanatic, my wife tells me I have a fetish for them lol. I already have 2 sets of 395's to try out on truck as well as 425/65/22.5 cement truck goodyears that I'm shopping for rims for in junk yards and ebay(trying to find the old stud piloted front wheels).I...
I just wanted to update I officially have a paid for m923, now if I can get it home before my 10 days are up. I will be taking lots o pics of truck and keeping as good of records as I can of the bob job to follow. For now here is a gl pic of my truck.
If you dont mind photo chopped pics i have couple, I just got a m923 for sole purpose of bobbing it into nearly standard pickup size. I'm thinking a 9' or 9'6" bed somewhere in there, I did do couple of cut and pastes with SS members trucks including one that is about 8' bed and its not bad...
I took a NV3500 and transfer case( I think it was a 241) out of 91 IFS chevy truck so I would have OD to go with the 6.17's and 43's. I ended up dropping truck back down onto normal axles with 4.10's and 37's. I kept the trans but switched to a solid axle np208 to get pass drop back.
I have my center flipped to driver side low pinion to work with the 5spd and transfer case I had in truck at time. only grinding was the diff cover I had to remove some of the ribs. It is alot easier to flip it to driver side and standard rotation like that then it is to flip it and keep pass...
sorry I should have put that the tractor guys swear by. I think all 855's have this capability though, not sure till my truck gets here for me to look directly at it. basically you put a T on the fuel line at pump and feed both ends of the head not just the one, supposedly nets you 10-20 hp...
it actually looks like the perfect redneck pickup as a bobber, which is the plan for mine. Bjmca I would love to see your truck sometime, I had hopes of finding a A2 8.3 turbo truck but they all went out of my budget pretty quick so I got a nhc250 standard 923 and your turbo setup looks like it...
truck does go forward, just no reverse. The gl rep thought it might be a linkage issue, i had actually asked about it on here but didnt post what truck it was due to forum rules.
I have seen that truck in person, it is in very good shape.
I hate to tell you this but it has no reverse, gl rep told me that when I looked truck over.
yes 923 beds are 14 deuce is 12 i believe, cant remember but I think rrr had to cut 3' out of his 12' bed to make it fit, if you move bed 1' forward (moving tire and exhaust) you would still need to cut 2' out to get same look rrr has.
yeah I see what he meant now, had to re-read it. I love your tructor's over all look even keeping the tandems. I have to admit after I posted that bobbed 931 and thought it looked strange it started to grow on me, thinking as long as bed was still usable size (8' or more) it would be a...
yeah the trailer beds are little small on a deuce or a 800 series 5 ton, the 939 series just make the bed look even smaller. I have only seen 2 of the 939's with a trailer bed on them, one wasnt so bad because they lifted bed and had cover but the other one is just sitting on frame rails and...
The tires should be 14.00 r 20 xzl's , also you are not going to need to shorten frame on a tractor they are already pretty short. I would say either a deuce bed or drop side would be fine, either one will need cut down for length.
just to give idea here is a quick "bob" using a 931 tractor...
yeah I had looked into those since alot of rockwell guys use them but the rotors would sit back from hub almost 6" and run into the knuckle of the gm 2.5T axles not to mention you would have to keep the hubs flipped out which wouldn't sit the tires under the body of a normal pickup.
when you...
