I searched back in the files here on this topic, seems like only a few posts on this...does anyone have any 6.2's swapped into their M37's or PowerWagons?
Seems like a neat swap...especially if adding the p/s and such from a donor truck....
77 M880 scan
Just to add, here's a scan of an old pic of my 77 M880 I used for my landscaping business, from about 1993. It has the grill with turn signals next to the headlights. By the way; I think I bought this truck from good ol' Bill Harbaugh in Sabillasville way back in 1990...wow, seems...
dodge 4x4 crewcabs etc
those mid-80's dodge w200 and w300 crewcabs are neat trucks...remember the 60's body style crewcabs? also cool.
a mid 80's 4x4 crewcab longbed would make for a great all-purpose rig....from taking the kids to school (crewcab) to picking up a load of topsoil or mulch...
M757 tires
Are you thinking of trying to collect all original tires for the rig in the long run, but just use a set of appropriate-sized tires in the short term?
In other words, an interim tire of similar stature like a radial XL or similar?
I know that finding original tires for MV's that...
Toecutter
yep....sure is! my alter-ego when I don't have enough coffee, or I have to stand in line at the DMV for 2 hours..... 8)

M880's
Any of you M880 guys remember that MV article from around 1990-93 that described the basic details of the M880/890 series trucks?
I think the tone of the very brief article was something like, "low bidder trucks....puny 727 transmissions...civilian 3/4 ton axles...." you know, basically...
Re: RE: Convoy idea.....
If the thought is to convoy from "locations as yet to be determined" to Meadows of Dan, I agree that we should start thinking about specific dates; let's say - rule out Veteran's Day/weekend - Nov 10-13th; also rule out Thanksgiving weekend Nov 23-27th (lotsa long...
Winslow
look up john winslow sales, halifax; north carolina on the net....can't remember his number offhand.
also, he lists an ad in MV almost every month, you'll see his number there (and maybe his email addy too)
he doesn't have a website, just an old-fashioned phone number.
XL's on a m757
those XL's make it happen....NOW we're talking!
although, a shop van body is probably the last type I'd want on any vehicle...too much like a military moving van than a tactical vehicle (at least in appearance).....but a neat truck nonetheless!
what the?? spammers on the SS board?
Really, Builder77....looks like hackers can do the same bad spamming here on the board like they do on good ol' email accounts.... :?
I've never seen this kind of spamming on the board before, it caught my attention (especially since it was a "spam"...
Convoy idea.....
M215, that is a great idea....you are in Spotsy county? where exactly? I used to live in Chancellorsville, on Ely's Ford Road.
I would certainly be into the idea of convoying down to Bjorn's, if indeed this get-together materializes....we could make sure we had spare tow bars...
Not sure if anyone is interested, but John's got at least 3 FMTV's in pieces out at his yard. I believe one was complete, with motor/trans, but in pieces.....
It's a shame to see the pokeweeds growing thru the cabs, somebody should get ahold of the parts and try to assemble one.....not that...
Well, here I am posting a note on the possible meet of VA members at Bjorn's this fall. We were thinking sometime b/w Halloween and Thanksgiving?
VA members, what do you think?
We could have a campout/picnic/cookout and such, maybe even bring stuff to trade/swap....
I am learning new culinary...
rizzo's "got mud? 4x4" avatar
Ahem.....that's a rather rude avatar you use on that "got mud" message board, there buddy!
SS members show a little more "conservative restraint"...... rofl
Adam Lee
whiners
Jesus Mc Christ, tells those hosers to shut their pie-holes and get back to work already.
That is absolutely the lamest reason to butcher a rig for no purpose other than to "convenience" somebody's extreme laziness.
They probably don't know their own home phone numbers "cuz they got...
8x8 for Ron
Ron, this you should get. If you could leverage it, I'd use the "buy it now" for the 4k it's at. This is indeed a prototype, and like the HMMWV prototypes, rare & unique.
Very cool!
