    Civilianizing M101A2

Ok...then modifying makes sense. You might want to try just underslinging the springs on the trailer. This would drop it about 4". And look into an adjustable pintle hitch that can go into a receiver. This way, you could use it on both of your Jeeps. I have a friend who pulls his M101 with...

    Civilianizing M101A2

It has nothing to do with a purist attitude. It's just plain facts. The M101A2 is a superb trailer. It's the perfect height for any pickup truck, it has 8 lug Chevy rims, and surge brakes. It's a big improvement over the M101A1. What are your intentions for the trailer? Are you going to...

    Cracked CUCV starter?

Bolts were tight, support bracket was in place. Very strange.

    Cracked CUCV starter?

This is strange. I've never had this happen before. A couple days ago, I heard a rattling sound. It sounded like a loose exhaust clamp. I checked but couldn't find it. The next day, I went to start the truck and the sound was worse, the engine would not crank. I figured...stuck starter...

Spotted a Unimog near my place

I'm no expert but this is what I've seen: 404: gas 406: gas or diesel 416: diesel SBU (U1250, U1300, U1500, U2450): All diesel Next Generation (U500, U300): All diesel

Spotted a Unimog near my place

I second the correction that all military Mogs were gas. Come on Maddawg, you know better! My Mog had an inline 6 cyl turbo diesel and it was straight from the German Army. The 404 for sale looks to be in good shape. Not a bad price either.

    5 or 7.5 ton Flatbed

Have I got a trailer for you! It's a converted M117 semi trailer. The bed length is 28'. It turns on a dime because of the single axle. Empty weight is 8,000 lbs. Rated for 6 tons but I've had more on it. Air brakes, dual landing legs, 24 volt lights, pintle hitch, very heavy duty. Tires...

    Block heater

I've been very happy with my freeze plug heater for my CUCV. It only took about five minutes to install and two hours to remove the plug that fell inside the block.

Thanks Mike. How about removing the delete option from editing posts?

    Deleting topics?

In the edit section of a post, it says I can edit or delete a post. I couldn't find the delete button so maybe that option needs to be removed?

    Deleting topics?

To clarify: I wanted to remove a transportation offer since I have already taken the trip and it was over a year ago. There's no point in taking up server space with an old topic. Also, there isn't any way to delet a post to a topic either.

    Deleting topics?

I wanted to delete a topic that I started but when I went to the edit page, there isn't any button for deletion. Any advice?

    NJ Pine Barrens trip: 10-19-08

Although there were only two of us on the trail, it was a great time! The leaves were changing and the weather was perfect. We did meet up with some Land Rover people who were a little nuts. (Your typical off road yahoos) This was the first time Brian had his Pinzgauer off road so he was...

    Hard starting, IP leaking

Is it leaking from the front of the IP? That's the sign of a bad seal. It's just a paper gasket but you have to pull the IP in order to replace it. If it stops leaking after it warms up, then it's probably sucking enough fuel to where it won't leak. Or, the heat is making the IP expand and...

    Hard starting, IP leaking

How does the engine run after it starts? I had a bad O-ring in my throttle shaft on an M1009 that I was fixing up. I replaced it but didn't bother with a new seal. It leaked and made it difficult to start but it ran and continued to leak. The only thing to do is pull the IP and replace the...
