The reason why I opted for the M1008 was because it had the Dana 60 and Coporate 14 bolt. The 1/2 ton axles that come on a M1009 will grenande when you put any big tires under it.

The military should have ordered those too!

A lot of tow truck companies out here in the Los Angeles area have rotators. But the have to pay about half a million for one, where as a military wrecker I have seen go for about $10,000 the last time I looked on GL.

Call Stephen Watson-That dude is the guru when it comes to these 73-87 trucks. He has a lot of different options for our trucks. Offroad Design is the choice I am going with when I have the money to lift my truck.

4:11 are okay. I would just keep the 4:56's and do a swap with a 700R4. Just my 2cents.

Also make sure that the bolts for the box are tight on the frame. This can also cause some play.

You can also adjust the worm gear on the steering box. It is the allen nut and 5/8" bolt. Just gradually adjust the allen nut to clear up the play. First you have to loosen up the 5/8" nut then gradually turn the allen head to clear up the slack. If you tighten it too much, you will have a...

RE: Driveshaft Length The 79 may have a 203 in it. The both are cast. the 205 and the 203.

RE: Driveshaft Length The 205 is cast iron and the 208 is aluminum. THe 205 is gear driven, the 208 is chain driven.
