Actually what I had mind was a 5 ton bed with a dump setup. I should have talked about the dump setup in the first post, sorry . I had in mind moving the spare up next to the cab which would give me another foot for the bed.
From prior threads it seems to be a relatively uncomplicated project to remove the 5th wheel from my 932a1 and put on an 813 bed. Has anybody done this? Are there any big problems in the project?
I just read a thread in the paint and body forum that has more paint codes than the law allows. It is a long thread but alot of info about rollers, brushes, rattle cans etc.
My 932a1 starts a little "hop" at 50 and about 1950 rpm. There is more left but I am going to figure out the hop first. Steers and handles very well though.
I bought a battery at Batteries Plus. It's been a couple of years but about $120. Had to order it but the size was perfect. I move mine around the farm for different uses. Changed the oil, new filter, and cleaned the fuel filter. Works like a champ good clean power.
I know what you mean on the prices. I used to live right down the road from the place. There is huge Richie Bros construction equip auction about 5 mi down the road. Maybe you can catch a back haul out of there
Not to burst anyone's bubble but I'm going to dance with one what brought me. ie The military has run these things or not run in some of the worst conditions imaginable with military fluids for over 30 years. If you are buying a brand new tranny by all means do what the manufacturer...
