Anything is possible I suppose. It depends on how deep your pockets are and how much of the work you can do yourself. I've never seen anyone who wanted to go to that much trouble though. I've never seen or heard of a true M37 repowered by a GM V-8 and auto trans.Mind they could use some more...
Good luck to you. That pick up looks like its pretty solid. I had a bunch of them in my motor pool when I was in the service. I found the Chevys OK for their purpose. They'll pass everything but a fuel point. Yuk yuk. With those gears in it the fuel level went down pretty rapidly. Check your...
This might seem like a bone-headed question, but I'll ask anyway. Isn't the ignition switch on the column supposed to lock the shift lever and the steering wheel on the M880s Power Wagons when the key is removed from the lock? Unless I missed it, no mention is made of this in the -10 or -20 TM...
So you actually found an ignition key screwed to the front sheet metal? That's wild. I'll have to look to see if there is one in my M882. Welcome from Ohio. M882s are fun trucks to drive, but the radiator support can be crumbly from unseen rust. Mine is, but it doesn't seem to be too involved yet.
Welcome to Wright-Patterson AFB. I think you will find the winter here a lot milder than Minot, ND. I was born here so it's home to me. I chose to come back to Dayton when I retired from Civil Service and so far I have no complaints.
I echo the other fellows who advise against going around...
Although this is an old post, I'll take a chance by replying to it. I can't help you about what your Dodge truck is either a WC 51, WC52, or a Canadian variant, but I had to comment on the 84th Infantry Division (US) patch that has been painted on the canvas. Did you do that, and if so, why? The...
I sometimes see Air Force One in Ohio; usually around campaign season; otherwise Ohio is considered just "fly over country". The current occupant of the Oval Office came to Ohio about a year or two back and did a photo opportunity at the UD Arena watching a University of Dayton Flyers basketball...
Rubber mat with jute backing on mine too. That's all I remember they had even when they were being used in the Army back in the 1970s. I believe this is still available new from Chrysler. One or other of the advertisers in the Military Vehicle Collector magazine probably could set you up too.
Yes, I think I have heard of this vehicle - or one like it. The story I heard was a wealthy Arab in the Middle east (Saudi Arabia?) had a replica 1950s era Power Wagon created that was 10 times larger than normal size. Who knows why he wanted it done; maybe he was bored.
That's not the worst thing you can do in a military vehicle, but it ranks right up there. I was riding shotgun in an M35A3 deuce when my friend, a fellow Army technician, ran it out of fuel on a trip we were making to FT McCoy. It ran out right at the end of the off ramp as we were starting to...
Does anyone have a good idea what this piece of equipment is? I thought it might be a USAF item of equipment until I got closer to it and noticed the star and "CCCP" emblem on the hood. The warning placards are all in Russian too. Whatever it is, it seems to have all new tires on it. They all...
Well, the thing that sticks out in your engine bay is that you don't have the original air cleaner. That is an aftermarket item that's on the carburetor now.I also don't see how your battery is secured in the battery tray as there's no clamp such as mine on it. I'm also not sure if your overflow...
Nice score of an M1010, Madmedic. During the course of my long Army career I was in two different Army General Hospitals in the 1980s (not as a medic however) and we had plenty of these. They did not get that much use in a general hospital setting so somebody probably got a bargain when they...
What's so great about rolling down US Hwy 41? I used to live in Appleton, WI and US 41 goes by there. I took US 41 back and forth to Green Bay from Appleton all the time, especially in the fall.
The electrical system of the M880 is known to be full of gremlins. It doesn't help when it's been worked on by firemen after it left the army. My M882 was in the Forestry Service as a brush truck for years after it was released by the Army. I must have used a couple of pounds of rosin core...
I saw those on deuce and a half trucks at Camp Ripley, MN. They also had the arctic bed covers as well so if you were riding in the back of one of those babies you were pretty toasty. Maybe not so good in the summer though as it could get pretty stuffy in there during the day.
