Mine is going to throw a slight monkey wrench into the works. While converting from a TH400 to the 4L80E, I decided to do the ORD 203/205 "doubler". My measurements are going to be off a bit because I have an NP203 wedged in between the 4L80 and the NP205. Actually, the ORD doubler kit uses...
No, it is still on the rack. I’m doing several things at once. I will post up pics when I’m done. I was originally going to do just the ORD 203/205 doubler. Then I decided to add the TH400 to 4L80 conversion. Along the way, I had to source other parts for the 4L80 swap such as the throttle...
I done the exact same thing to mine... I fully understand why you are doing it. The tool body was of no use to me. I did find a friend who wanted to adapt the utility body to a trailer of some sort. I have not regretted converting my truck one bit. I wish that I had a "before" pic but here...

I'm in the midst of this swap now. Some of my photos will be reflective of me doing a dual transfer case at the same time as the 4L80E. I know, the ORD 203/205 “doubler” is expensive in itself so why not rub salt in the bleeding wallet wound and do the overdrive swap at the same time, right...
I have had good luck with the Bilstein 5100-series shocks in combination with a pair of F250 front shock mounts on my 1986 M1031 (converted to an M1028A1). ORD has guided me through my build and has not steered me wrong to date. YMMV
Yes, flawless function. At idle, there is enough flow and power from the pump (4.5 GPM @ 1600 PSI) that I was worried about the winch bolts holding when I tested the function. Adding the winch and ram assist to the circuit provides more capacity overall for the hydraulic fluid. The remote...
Just caught up with all posts since November. This has to be about the finest M1028 on the planet. Regarding spending your daughter's inheritance Mike, it is not hers until she inherits it. We work to enjoy the fruits of our labor. It addition to occupying your time and having fun with your...
I did not intend to resurrect an old thread but there is a wealth on knowledge in this single thread. Hopefully I will avoid making costly mistakes and get the right stuff in the first place for my 4L80E swap. Thanks to all who contributed!
Mike,
I am going a slightly different route with mine. I know you have researched this extensively. I decided to go with the 4L80E instead of the 700R4. I made this decision because I found an "almost" free 4L80E ($200) and decided that any 4th gear is better than NO 4th gear. While all of...
It has been quite some time since I posted but I figured that I would contribute to this thread. I will start by saying that advice was given to me from forum members to insure that my stock pump was capable of handling the extra load that I was putting on it by adding a Mile Marker hydraulic...
