East Coast Winter Storm - JAN 10

We have gotten very little snow here but man has it been cold and windy. The wind has been blowing a solid 20-30 mph for well over a week now with gusts over 50 mph.

    Retrofitting a 002 003 004 005 006 or 802 803 with a Generac Governor Controller Kit

But are the wires connected to the gauge output or the 110 input to the transducer? I am thinking that since this controller is designed to be used on a Generac set it would sense frequency from the 110 volt output of the genset. In out case the convenience outlet. I seriously doubt they use a...

East Coast Winter Storm - JAN 10

Looks a lot bigger when in your hand. I have seen people use small cords so many times on generators and RV's.

    Retrofitting a 002 003 004 005 006 or 802 803 with a Generac Governor Controller Kit

Looking at the directions I see the controller needs 12 VDC and the frequency is controlled by the AC output. Where is the 12VAC needed?

    Retrofitting a 002 003 004 005 006 or 802 803 with a Generac Governor Controller Kit

Nice, since my vernier function on my cable on my 002 has seized up it can be a pain to get the frequency set right. That might be an option.

    MEP-803A Fuel Gauge issue

THAT is why I like my old 00X machines. No electronics to tell the machine what to do other than an overheat switch and and oil pressure switch. Both very easy to check/bypass if needed.

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

I would run your pressure tests again once you get them cleaned and back together. I have also not seen that type of plunger, looks like a seal of some sort. If I had to guess I would say it may have been replaced and the replacement was from a different contract and different company. As far...

    MEP-803A Fuel Gauge issue

Ray, he did mention it ran out of fuel while doing a load test. while showing 1/4 tank and then light came on. Sounds to me like the the light is correct and the gauge is not.

    MEP-803A Fuel Gauge issue

Does it show full when it is actually at 3/4? May need calibration or it may simply be a bad sender.

I would also be interested in a couple of the overlays.

Fixing till broke is a lot better than running till broke and then fixing. That is unless your fixing is what broke it.

    Mep003a

I don't know if it is in the TM, probably just never paid attention to that since I have run into that same issue on vehicles and trucks that go from normal weather into extreme cold. If it is something that will be out in the cold for long periods I will use graphite in the bushings and shafts...

    Mep003a

And if you test the starter with it removed be sure to have a good hold on it (nowhere near the moving gear). It will want to jump pretty hard. In other words, be sure that you have a grip on it and it is not laying on top of the batteries. Put a heavy clot between the starter and whatever it is...

    Mep003a

Very good point on low batteries. If they are marginal then the glow plugs will drain them to a no start condition. And like Scooby I rebroke ribs from pushing the limits, also did the same with an arm at a different time. Yea, I am one of those that didn't like to listen to doctors advice. I...

You say a lot of seeds came flying out?! Did you take off the shroud around the engine to make sure there are no nests blocking the cylinder fins? This is very important.

    Mep003a

I would venture a guess that the starter issue is old frozen grease on the bendix, or none at all on the bendix. My guess is that when warmed up a bit it will work. Take the starter off and check for lube on the shaft and on the end bushings if you can access them. Unless you are restoring this...

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

Don't forget left hand threads, There's a monkey wrench for you. LOL Does your head hurt yet? We might want to get back to helping out the OP.

Mep 802a bogs down when a/c circuit interrupt

The biggest trick to the whole thing is making sure the tension wire comes off the top side of the bolt on the left down to the bottom side of the bolt on the right. Sounds easy but this is what got me every time.
