Also, installed a starter that I got used from Northwest Equipment via E-bay. Were listed as 2a042/4a084 starters, but if you reclocked it, it fits right in, no problem, and clears the exhaust with room to spare.
Did a makeshift load test on the 3 kw unit Sunday PM so I could set the gov. under a load per the manual. Used a 500 watt area lamp, 1500 watt box heater, and two Sears 6 hp (right!) vacuums. Ran the load meter up into the 105% gray zone (3150 watts or so), but the unit loved it. Exhaust just...
I know it has been awhile, but I just got a disk with pictures from the guys I bought the water truck and spare from that were taken when we loaded the truck at their farm.
The buzzer on our water truck was unplugged, and since I didn't know anything, I just thought that we would install Saturn's air gauge update kit which includes a warning light with a "y" connector. Found the buzzer in the mean time, but still only hooked up the light. Installed in the middle...
We have sprayed air tool oil on purpose into the air compressor intake on both the water truck and the tractor to free up sticky items like the governor and the air booster. Oil seems to find it's way out after awhile. Also, the air tool oil I have sprayed into the back of the booster has to...
All the manual transmission 5 tons should vent or dump air when shifted between reverse and neutral. The air being dumped is the opposite side of the sprag shifter cylinder being vented. Best you check for correct operation of the shift cylinder before you run it much or you could wreck the...
Interesting that you should ask about the weight. I just moved the sister water truck from a job to the office, and since it will be idle all winter, went up the road to fill the gas tank (78 gallons!!). Since a good friends gravel operation is next door to the Sam's Club (cheap gas) I pulled...
Located in Merrimack, NH. Personal friend owns yard and is letting me keep it there. Other trucks and tires located elsewhere. Bridge truck wheels can't be used on standard 5 ton axles without the special spacers and the wider rear axles.
The only things we sent to the crusher were the two beds with their steel sides. The rest of the truck will remain where it is for the time being, for parts. Counting the tires on the other two trucks, we have 32 each of the 1400x20 bridge truck tires and wheels. The biggest problem is...
Can someone give me the dimension from the face of the flywheel surface to the face of the bellhousing surface (depth of housing) for the 4a032? Thanks
Trying to matchup an SAE mounted pump so we can directly connect the engine and pump unit. Will be using on water truck to both fill the tank...
Yes, both trucks were 1961 or so gasser M139s. Water truck already had tank mounted by some small fire dept. when we got it, and it's bed was laying on top of the spare truck's bed. Engine in spare truck is stuck per the guys I got them from, and since the starter is out due to a bad bendix, I...
On the tractor, I don't think I can get the case out from under the truck without tipping the case over on its side or lifting the truck rear end up and rolling the case out. Have to take more measurements.
Interested in how you will be removing the transfer case from your truck. Have to do this to our tractor (won't engage high gear) and will be taking the case out of the spare truck (see other thread).
Have taken the four rears off the water truck and both fronts and one rear off the tractor. No problems with any of them sliding right off with the hub. Maybe the adjuster jumped over (cam over?) and is hanging the shoe up.
I would do the test wdbtchr suggested. Did this on ours to check operation when we were getting noise out of it. Since flushing and refilling with new oil, no problems all summer at the job sites, full of 4000 gallons of water in and over sand and gravel.
