With all the posts on the Deuce Mod Board about the multi's oil filters, I thought it interesting that the Mack motor in the new tractor uses only one of the same elements for the primary full flow filter and the secondary bypass flow element is the same as the big gasser. Obviously the...
Since getting the truck and trying the gears around the yard, the transfer still will not stay in Hi unless you hold it. Found a hole drilled through the handle and a rope with a hook in the cab, and guessed that the drivers were hooking the rope up and holding it in hi to drive! disconnected...
I would be curious where the hp/torque #'s came from, as the manual I have shows lower numbers, sort of mid-way between the Cummins and the Multi (5 ton version).
I would wash out the existing element, but the unwanted visitors (see other post) already chewed on a number of the outer folds and wrecked the filter.
I would very much like to change out to 1400x20 tires, as we have all kinds of extra old style NDCC tires from the bridge trucks, but the...
Somewhere in the dim recesses of my brain, I recall seeing a graph of engine wear vs operating temperature over time for car engines. The graph had a very steep curve from low temperature (75-100) up until about 160 or so and then the curve flattened out almost to a zero slope till about...
Thanks for all the help. Now have all WIX filters except for the air, which I will have to order from a military parts supplier. Any suggestions for best service/price on a 5 ton multi/Mack filter element?
I have what I think is a good suggestion for trucks that have been idle for an extended period (learned the hard way!).
As we all know, insects and rodents seem to gravitate towards the green iron, and will take up residence within minutes (it appears) of shut down. The new tractor had...
The two fuel filters appear to be correct, but the oil filter (full flow) is not the 51233. The bypass oil filter is the same as a gasser, 51021 per the manual.
Anyone else know the full flow oil filter # (WIX or NAPA)? The 51233 filter is a huge outside mounted unit like over the road...
Mud flaps are standard commercial units installed into added on (welded) pockets right on the end of the frame. Will try to get additional picture. Undecided if we will cut them off or not.
Didn't have a camera available when we moved it, but this is the first move with the new tractor, a 6' x21' trommel screen. Weighs about 60-70,000#, and had to pull it up a steep grade for the guys I rent my office space from. Truck worked great!!, but I wouldn't want to go too far down the...
Data plates and cut seat (?). Not sure about seat, but may be because of transfer shifter. Transfer case will not stay in hi, but I am hopeful it is adjustment.
New (to us) truck just delivered on Tuesday. Looks about how I expected. Data plates are not too good, and no maker listed or date. Any help on date and maker?
The valve manifold on the side of the 5 ton shifter actually has 4 connections, air from main system in, two air control lines to the transfer case out and a 4th that is the dump port (open) when the system shifts, the hisssss when you go from forward to reverse. On our two trucks this port is...
Early R6602's had a primer setup that injected (by hand pressure pump) raw gas directly into the intake. I assume this is what is on the 1953 truck in question. No multi fuels until mid 60's.
In NH, the form I used was called an "Affidavit of Ownership for Antique Vehicles"
which you fill out with the vehicle's info, your name/address and the previous owner's name/address and date of purchase. Notarize and take to Town clerk's office for a title application. Not sure what other...
Last time I checked, the carbs were $125 @ Saturn.
No, I don't think the 5 ton carb will fit on the M108. 5 ton carbs have 6 bolts/studs holding them to the manifold. Not sure what the M35/M108 has. Appox. cfm of the 5 ton is around 400 cfm, its big!
