I stopped engineering in 'overload' ratings years ago in the truck designs I worked on for utility industries... I figured - 'Screw It!' - no one will pay attention to it anyway...
Why include a safety factor, or trailer brakes, or 'dead-man' switches? Someone will simply figure out a creative...
Towing the chit, and stopping the chit, are two entirely different things....
You tow it as you feel you have to - I'll report it if I feel I have to - fair? :D

... I gather that you hate the 6.2.
Parts aren't that hard to gather - I've got two sets of large GM truck bellhousings - std 6.X flywheel (not dual-mass) with 12" Reo clutch or custom clutch, and that's really about all that's required that would be considered 'exotic'.
For the...
Talk to Marsh... and yes, it IS about liability.
By the way - There are NO DOT or NHTSA standards for wheels - DOT doesn't write rules for wheels. They may be stamped as 'DOT approved', but DOT doesn't write any rules pertaining to wheels. There is an SAE J-series standard for wheels, but it...
The problem with using the HMMWV rims are various - limited tire sizes in larger OD's for 16.5 rim (if you're looking for taller diamter tires in order to 'cheat' your gearing & pick up a bit more road speed), limited rim width, breaking beadlock bolts in normal usage, etc.

I don't recall Berg having these Michelin 11.00x16's tires for quite awhile... spoke with someone on the forum yesterday that said Michelin in SC was still making the 11.00x16, but they will NOT sell them for use in US due to DOT or other legal reasons.
Also Note: I spoke with Marsh ~3 weeks...
Michelin - to my understanding - hasn't made these tires for US consumption for quite a few years now.
There is a seller on the Classifieds listing a set of 5 11.00x16 XL's for $2k in Michigan - they may still be available, but are mounted on M37 rims. There is also an individual on the SS...
Ft Worth Clutch can quote you a clutch with the large 10-spline hub to match the 3053 trans... I've discussed the possibility with them of making a 6.2 Diesel clutch disc with the 'Spicer' big 10-spline hub... they quoted me @ $125 for a custom disc ~ 2 years ago.
IIRC - you can use the big...

Cherry Bombs suck on diesels... if you want to save money to gain noise, just straight pipe it. And fly a Rebel Flag in the back window as well... get more people pissed at civvy MV ownership. Draw more attention of the wrong kind to yourself.

Appreciate your input - I'll stand behind what the tire and rim designers and manufacturers say... Bias tire beads require a different rim angle.

My main issue is with people using a mentality of 'the radial will mount onto the 8-bolt rim, so it must be okay to do it' - wrong mentality, Period.
The engineers that designed it know more than the layman that 'makes it work'... it might physically mount the tire on the rim, but doing so may...
