    System outage - Migration

Patracy, Many thanks for your dedication and the efforts expended. I was beginning to suffer withdrawals like some others have mentioned. I didn't realize how much I missed the site. Excellent work!! David

using home heating oil in military diesel gensets

Ray70, being originally from VT, I hear you. Back in the days, we had a wood stove (or furnace) for heat and toughed out the loss of power. Burned 10 cords of wood most years. Remember a lot of -25 nights.....

using home heating oil in military diesel gensets

I believe it was winter of 2003 that we had the heaviest snow I can remember in the Shenandoah Valley. I tried to plow with a Ford 2n and rear blade. Succeeded in getting the 2n stuck and having to shovel to get it back to the house. Even the deer were following my shovel paths! Used that as...

using home heating oil in military diesel gensets

Another vote here for hho in the diesels. Both my Kubota's have been on a diet of hho the last ten years with no issues (1975 L225 and 2002 L3130). 002's are being fed the same. All of my fuel tank feed lines are 3/8" copper with stainless flex on the 002's connection to prevent vibration...

    DC charging system stator overproducing

NO Voltage or HZ reading on meters

"Hey, it could be something as simple as a loose connection at A4 or a loose connection at the VR board, but you won't know which half of the circuit is the problem until you do the test outlined in the -34." I had multiple electrical problems on my last 002a. Found a lot of connections...

    New fuel pumps!

No experience with the 004, but 002's and 003'sall came with two main fuel supply pumps. First thing I did was take one off for spare. No need for the extra supply pump in series for applications we would get into. More for military redundancy. David

    DC charging system stator overproducing

I'm down to robbing an operational unit to fix my lead one.......:-( In searching by NSN, there are several companies listed as producing the dcvr's (Southern Automotive, Flight Source, and Chrisbarry Aircraft). When I get a few spare moments, I will call them and check it out. David

Storeman-I think your promotion check is right behind mine.....

    DC charging system stator overproducing

Sounds to me that there might be a need for someone to re-engineer a more durable and simpler DCVR...... Anyone up for the task... Triplejim?

    MEP 002 hot Q3 transistor

Appreciate the responses. I have a Fluke thermometer, but when I picked it up, the sensor wires were broken at the plug. My finger was a back-up (calibrated from my refrigeration days). I know it was at least 120+ (read by the speed I pulled my finger off it), and i did not take into...

    MEP 002 hot Q3 transistor

Today I had been running a load test breaking in the new pistons and re-installed rings on my latest 002 and noticed the q3 transistor on the AC power regulator board (5020), is very hot running at 60hz. Could not hold my finger on it for very long. Is this normal as it has a heat sink or am I...

    A Long Haul

Best of luck on your trip. Wish I was going. You have a lot of SS people rooting for you! Do you have the ability to update us during the trip?

I could tell that whine anywhere. Very distinctive. Saw many a C5 takeoff from Clark in the PI.

    The last F-4 departs Davis-Monthan

Dodge man "Wow this makes me feel old. This was the front line fighter when I was at Korat RTAFB! Hearing that they're going to start using F-16s as drones makes me feel even older. They weren't even in service when I was in the USAF!" When were you at Korat? I was there in '72 and we had...

    002a excessive blow-by

I guess it would be a better bet to replace it. Cracked at the formed flange. Going to be hard to seal it. Just a pain to have to pull the head again.

    002a excessive blow-by

When I said the dcvr was inoperative, I meant that it was not controlling-overcharging. I would also vote for triplejim to re-engineer a dcvr... I have replaced it on all three of my units. What I thought was a cut oring leaking is a cracked pushrod tube. Anyone have any luck with JB weld on...

    002a excessive blow-by

She's a runner! Hooked everything up this am and lit it off. Volt gauge is bad, hz gauge shows low (47hz vs 61hz on my handheld), and dcvr is inoperative. Hooked up to a 24.5 amp/240 load and ran for 1/2 hour. Makes good power. No blow-by at the oil fill cap like before. Have oil leak on #2...
