Break tire bead by lowering deuce on tire?

Make sure that the grommet was installed with lots of silglyde cream applied. If not, it may not seat properly and will degrade faster. Same goes for the o ring. No RTV or anything else but silglyde rubber lubricant on the o rings & grommets. Also, make sure the rim surfaces for both the o...

    Oxy/acet or mig

I don't necessarily agree about it having to be dead calm to mig. I had no issue with a 45mph Santa Ana blowing away and doing structural fab using mig in the open. It's all about handling the gun and gas flow. I've never used flux core wire, never will. If I can't do a decent job of...

    Oxy/acet or mig

This is certainly true if you weld a lot and move a lot of gas. Leasing bottles (buy-in and then exchange for fulls) avoids the hydrostatic test hassle and costs that outright bottle ownership faces. This becomes a factor for the sporadic or occasional welder where bottles sit around for a...

    Oxy/acet or mig

Auto dark helmet is a must! I think back to the old head twitch days with the fixed #12 lens helmets and can't believe how far things have come. I remember as a kid having the helmet pivot nuts loosened way out by a 'friend' so there was no friction on the helmet pivot. I was doing an...

    Oxy/acet or mig

Both, definitely. And don't cheap out, make an investment. What to buy is a Ford vs. Chevy religious argument. I am of the Victor torch, Miller MIG faith. You'll find others of the Hobart and Lincoln faiths as well as others as well. While we defend our religions fiercely, in actuality...

Break tire bead by lowering deuce on tire?

Hey folks - the guy used the magic word "grommet". This is a tubeless A3 tire with external bead lock, o ring and internal spreader. It's not a standard Truck rim like that used on an A2. Special technique is required and dropping a 14000 pound truck on a rim is about the most uncontrolled...

    A3 Air/Steering Issue

Not sure why they regulated down the truck service air to run the air assist steering. The difference between stock and bypass will certainly have an effect on the amount of force generated as well as the rate at which the assist will respond. All I can figure is that there was a desire to...

    Solargizer

I put my solargizer panel on top of the hardtop cab for max exposure. It's pretty much invisible from any angle except looking down from above. I used RTV to attach it and also used a couple small blobs of RTV to dress the wires inside fiber sleeving along the back of the cab. I mounted the...

Quieting down the low air warning buzzer?

Current DOT requirement is to have at a minimum a visual warning device like a light or wigwag. The buzzer is optional. With that said, I like the buzzer because I keep my eyes on the road and out the window, not on the dash! Needless to say I have both buzzer and light and will keep'em.

    AN/VDR-2 Radiac Set

I'm interested in finding one as well. Been monitoring flea-bay without success. If anyone knows a source at a reasonable price please let me know.

    m35a3 wont go forward

Start with the easy items: fluid check at operating temp, engine running per TM. What are you using for fluid? Motor oil (mil method) or Allison spec'd ATF? Have you looked at the oil on the dipstick? Is it discolored? Does it smell burnt or rancid? These items will help diagnose a fluid...

    M35a3 air steering issue

The stock regulator, when not leaking, supplies plenty of air to run the steering. It has more than enough capacity to bleed down the truck air faster than the compressor can refill, even at high rpm. There is no need for larger hoses or setting the pressure higher than that indicated in the...

    Need help with CTIS system

The clicking is the unit puffing on the plumbing to open the wheel valves to sense pressure of the wheels. If the unit cannot pressurize the system to about 15 psi, the valves won't open and will read flat since there is no tire pressure filling the line after the puff. The usual issue is...

    M35A3 Help!!

The tranny fill is on pax side under a trap door about 4 inches long. Trap door is actually on beveled part of floor pan angling up to firewall. The door is held shut with Zeus nut and d-ring for quarter turn unlock.

I too sourced the A3 unloader from Napa about a year ago. It was a quick fix.

    M35A3 Help!!

Sounds like tranny clutches on 1st gear. You might get by by properly filling. Full is measured on dipstick with engine running and fluid at operating temp, not cold. Fluid added through dipstick located in trap door on pax side floor inside cab. Even if the refill works, it's going to need...

    Self-correcting master cylinder leak?

Maybe the pressure was high enough to open the check valve to the reservoir that fills the cylinder on the draw (return) stroke. The system isn't designed for a high pressure pushing fluid from the reservoir to cylinder, it's designed for a vacuum pulling fluid from the reservoir, so the check...

source for m35a3 valve stem grommets

Yup, sorry I saw valve stem but without my glasses missed the grommet :). Anyone breaking down an A3 rim without replacing the grommets is really looking for Murphy! Look at the other posts and make sure you grease it up real good with sil-glyde cream. Same goes for the o ring. Have fun!

source for m35a3 valve stem grommets

Erik stocks all those unique to A3 wheel parts, but they're not cheap. Look on his site. That valve stem is pricey and not easily fabricated. Is it possible to repair your present one? I'm assuming you are actually referring to the 3/8 pipe assembly that fits into the center of the rim to...
