Tires will have very significant and visible cracks (not just weather checking). However, there are separate posts and discussion threads (please search for them) that describe severely rotten tires that looked fine from outside but were cracked and rotten INSIDE. That could only be seen if...
Mr. Moto is right.
Under normal conditions, the CTIS doesn't bleed down the air in a steady stream, but in a pop pop pop fashion as it tries to charge the lines to over 20psi so the wheel valves will open. Between puffs of air, it then measures the line air pressure because if the wheel valves...
Hey Ross-
Your CTIS system plumbing likely is clogged or has a leak at a plastic joint. The system isolates all the tires and vents the pressure in the lines when shut down. It initializes by blowing little puffs of air to open the wheel valves. It the measures the pressure in the line to...
Beware of those stock Michelins with old date codes. Your rotted tires, like many of the replacements you'll find surplus have DOT date codes that are over 10 years old. These tires don't age well and don't take abuse like a truck sitting on a flat for a long period. Such conditions ruin the...
Please note that many of the VHF antennas mounts have a dc ground inductor to bleed off static buildup, etc. these inductors, usually in the base of the mount, will short out frequencies below VHF, like AM and shortwave. If you want to use one of these mil antenna mounts, you'll need to either...
You can get 1.5 inch impact socket at napa. Liquid or gel filled tires will have huge added weight, affecting acceleration, steering, handling stability. They would be very dangerous on the road at anything beyond very low speeds. They are used in tractors to add weight on the rear axle for...
My rims had rust pitting in the o ring grooves. Not a problem. The o ring is mashed so hard into the groove by the outer flange that there is little chance for rust pits to affect unless the rim is so rotten it is rusted through and structurally unsound. The trick is to clean out all the rust...
To get proper seal, use silglyde on grommet and o ring. Really slop it on. Same goes for tire lube on the bead seating area. Gallons of it. It really helps the tire seat while filling and you'll see it weep from around the rim as the pressure goes up.
Did you really carefully clean out the...
A blown head gasket can cause blowby as well as combustion products in coolant. Both are due to compression loss. Head gasket failure doesn't require radiator to go dry. That would cause engine seize. Any time the engine temp goes super high and the radiator boils over, the head gasket is a...
Ditto.
I use Napa hydraulic and transmission oil in my A3 which has an Allison tranny. The Napa oil carries the Alilison C4 rating and a bunch of other certs for other mfgs. After switching from 15W40, it shifts smoother and runs lots cooler. Others have posted similar experiences. Others...
Your symptoms indicate crankcase oil and the little comment at the end confirms it. You've popped a head gasket. They most often fail due to overheating. The failure is one of three ways: white smoke - coolant in the bores, blue smoke - lube oil in the bores or megafroth in the cooling...
Maybe consider linking the stars to a page explaining what the stars mean? That will help stop questions, but still keep the discrete appearance in the posts.
Btw, when I refresh the page on my iPad, I get a question mark instead of the stars. Kinda wield because the stars showed once.
My post above now shows a question mark instead of a star. Is this intentional? Some may say it is appropriate, but I don't think it's what you intended, based upon your comment a few minutes ago.
Thanks!
Instead of 'premium' or 'paid' tags, how about a star next to the name? Maybe something like silver for $15 and gold for vendors? That fits the mil theme and is discrete. It also provides the opportunity for additional tiers.
As I posted elsewhere, I have no intention to sell anything, but...
