Thanks for the tip Steve! Never saw one of them before crawling under the truck. I would imagine they use the same stuff on Semi's too but not sure. I was kind of hoping one of the members would be scrapping out a Deuce and these parts would be something I could buy from them. I even ran a...
The last two photos just show the "driver's side" glad hand setup which is perfectly fine. I just need the parts for the other side. The brief explanations I tried to include with each picture did not appear for some reason.
The former owner of my 1968 M35A2C wanted to use air tools by hooking into the truck's air supply. I want you to see his attempt at doing this. Keep in mind this guy is a machinist and also that they do make glad hand air hoses to accomplish what he tried to do in his infinite wisdom. I want...
Of course that would be the case in every respect. Insurance companies are usually pretty good about insuring newly acquired vehicles if you provide them with the VIN # and specific details about the vehicle. Local tag agecies can supply temporary tags for a fee practically everywhere you go...
Some of the GL storage lots are in locations adjacent to military bases which have public access roads right by the loadout area; Camp Beauregard Louisiana is one of these. The G.I.'s that retrieved an M35A2 for a friend of mine at Camp Beauregard simply drove the trucks out the gate of the...
If the brakes work you could have someone sit in the deuce and assist in the steering and braking. To supply air for the brakes, you could use a gas-driven air compressor set at 80-90 pounds and pipe the air into the system with fittings and a one-way valve in case the air line came loose. In...
Pictures of towbar feet
Thank you Barrman for posting the photos of the chain towbar feet in use. I took the time with a die to chase the threads on each of the clamps because they were slightly messed up from shipment, etc. I'll bring a deep well socket set and my 18 volt Dewalt impact...
Thanks Kenny! Lavarok and I are heading out for Camp Beauregard Louisiana first thing in the morning to pick up a GL Deuce he won recently. We don't know if it runs yet but will find out sometime Wednesday morning. Looks okay in the photos but you just never know what you are getting until...
I'll check it out. These things are really heavy! I can use them on my CUCV and it looks like there's a bit more room to work with under the M1008. I don't even have tow bar yet - very expensive to obtain and ship!
Has anyone used the chain type towbar feet on their Deuce? I bought a set a while back and looked at the front axle to see where they might be placed. Lots of stuff in the way like brake lines and it really looks like they would interfere with the steering if placed incorrectly on the axle...
RE: Sensors
I'll tell you this, I need to go to one of those military crash courses to learn how to use my STE/ICE unit! It's turning out to be more of a static display than anything else right now. I think I need some kind of an update to the software and trying to find a place that knows...
Isolated ground means that the body of the alternator is not a part of the grounding circuit. The alternators that are used for the CUCV have another way of running the ground through a separate wire which will be the negative side of the alternator. You may want to change the place you are...
There were a ton of these on GL in Florida that went pretty cheap considering the price they cost originally. Perhaps one of the buyers who only wanted one and got two would sell you the other they don't need. I wanted one myself but missed the auction when I was out of town.
RE: Re: RE: Comm shelving in 1008
I would be interested in seeing one of these racks with the radio equipment that was used when this truck was on active duty! I am also somewhat interested in the rack because I have two M1008A1 trucks with everything but the rack and power cord. I live so...
RE: Re: RE: Craigslist headsup! 6.2 engines for sale
It would almost be worth it for someone like me to head on over from Florida to haul them back for that price! Imagine the weight of that load though! Worst part of this is that I have property in McArthur CA with is right above Sacremento...
RE: Re: RE: Cucv as a daily driver
I would love to have a good M1009 but a lot of them have serious rust issues. I see a few on Craig's List from time to time and one in particular over in Tampa that some guy conveted to gas of all things! A really nice M1009 will go upwards from $4K even now...
You may be able to buy a good M1008 CUCV at Eglin through GovLiquidation. I live on the east coast halfway between Jacksonville and Miami and close to Cape Kennedy and also to Disneyworld. The mileage I get with my truck is around 12 to 15 because of the 456 gears - the M1009 gets around 22 to...
Hi Maddawg1, I have five of those rims and two of mine have civilian type rubber valve stems on them so I am concerned that the clown that did that might have drilled out the area where the stock air fittings go. I would be interested in two of the rim pieces that have the air valves and 24 of...
