If the engine is not cranking, you have to determine why. Fundamentally, it needs to have current to the starter. Determine that. Disconnect & scrape clean, the other ends of all the battery cables, & electric connections. As stated, check that solenoid by jumping it with a screw driver.
Those King Pins are in the "Real Tough" category. So is the 5th wheel. Probably when the king pin sheared, the trailer went forward, and a crossmember hooked and bent the 5th wheel. I always have the lights on & have added the required clearance & three bar markers to Medusa. Same on the...
Here are a couple more pictures of my heavy car hauling trailer, that I meant to include. Because of the tall hitch post on it, I use the lower, add-on hitch, but with an longer shaft (about a foot long, is all it takes), on the pintle. About These are all common variations, and I want to be...
Certainly there are many ways to skin a cat and a great deal of skill, time, & energy, as well as good ideas, have gone into these hitches. But too, I hate to see the utility of the stock hitch impaired because of "add ons". And certainly, for pulling civilian & smaller trailers, there is a...
I hauled a load down to Washington, about the same weight. The tire didn't like it much. I took the picture, after replacing the tire. I thought the spring would fail, but it didn't. In fact I regained its original shape, and is still in service.
You won't be able to use the top hitch with some trailers. The new one is too close below & to the sides, when the trailer swings, especially in off-road conditions.
Granted Trailboss, but check, and re-check, and when you stop, you don't even need to get out (sometimes). The truck should roll/coast/rock, to ever so fine a stop. That truck shop won't be cheap!
It makes me uneasy, hearing about all the Folks driving heavy trucks, and not having a clue about how they work. Probably a simple adjustment/check during the walk around, at the pick-up point would been sufficient. A CDL requires at least an elementary knowledge of the safety systems.
The truck looks great. Its something that you can get your teeth into.
Pull the valve cover and crank it over -- see if the rocker arms & rotor are moving (worst case problem). Some of those 302 engines used a fibre timing gear (others used an aluminum one). Mine stripped a few teeth and I...
Locate the pin hole, and solder it. I once had an M43 with a tank full of pin holes. I took it out, steamed it good, turned it upside down & put a dollup of solder on each hole and its still running today (30 years later). There is no quick fix. It takes time and patience, but the repair is...
It seems like it could be timed 180* off. Then you use #6, instead of #1. Another common error, is that one mistakes the rotation of the distributer, thinking it rotates the other way around, and the wires to the plugs are on backwards.
