Not the one on the starter. I call that one the starter solinoid. I believe that one works OK. That is how I start the truck when the button doesn't work -- by jumping between the little wire there, and the battery wire.. It doesn't seem to matter if its warm or not. It just sometimes works...
I need to know too. I was just messing with it. The starter button works intermitenly. Sometimes nothing. I just haven't taken time to take it apart, and see how its made. The last time I checked it, I had continuity between the button & starter, it worked, then it didn't. I suspect that...
If you build/have a pressure bleeder, you can hook it up to the MC, then by yourself, go crack the Booster, then to the fartherest WC, etc., working your way back. If you don't have the pressure bleeder, then you have to have "soldier 1", pump the brakes, while "soldier 2" uses the bottle with...
So I just measured mine (I couldn't stand not knowing), and sure enough, its a 10 leaf pack/3-3/4"-stack. Make & year is kaiser. The dash tag says Mfg. 1966, but the registration says 1965.
Not many donor trucks around, this neck of the woods either. I do have a donor 211 - I will measure...
Also, I am older then my two, 211's, but my comment is: Newer vehicle wheel bearings are lubed with gear lube. Even if the seal fails and enough axle lube melts the grease on the bearings, they should not fail because of it. They are still being lubed. Actually, I see no reason, if a newer...
If things are frozen up because of water contamination, just changing the fluid, won't help. Remove & re-build/replace, the master cylinder, then re-fill with DOT 5. Its not too much of a job. If you find water/rust/gunk, blow out the lines by disconnecting them at the wheel cylinders. I...
Are you talking about the little break-away chain thingy? Or the two parking brake handles on the front corners? I'll guess the former. When it is pulled, there is a cam action, that applies pressure to the master cylinder linkage, that makes it apply hydraulic pressure to the wheel cylinders...
Pulling a trailer is one thing. Stopping it is completely, another (many get the two parts, mixed up). Disabling a functioning brake system is insane. If your ever involved in an accident, where a death or injury is involved, I'm sure that you will have the opportunity to explain in detail to...
The last thing I would do, is turn those drums. Un-turned drums will have to seat in. Get them hot, like on a long hill, and your noise will go away. If you feel that you have to do something, use the "sand trick" above (like with plaster sand - something fine).
Check all the U-joints. Could be blown U-joint cross. Get under there and grab the drive line real close to the U-joint, and see if there is any lateral play. If so, (as in ANY), change out the cross. Also, check out the spline joint, the same way. A little there, is OK. Keep us posted.
No, an M989 Ammo Trailer. I manage to snag this one here from FT. Wainwright. A laundry trailer might do the job too, but have not seen one come up in the State. The 989 pulled good and after some adjustments to the axles (alignment), it pulls straight now. It was rebuilt 5 years ago, and I...

I'll be in Fairbanks, Saturday, here on the days before that. Like a lot of us, you seem to have a fluid schedule. As for the coffee.... Fix a Kit to make your own - its dependable that way. Send a PM, We may be able to co-ordinate something.Just went to Anchorage, & picked up a...
I'm not familiar with your truck, but with shutter-stats & fan clutches. Fans don't make noise, unless something is drastically wrong. I doubt that, but what is making the noise? The air? Bearings? Both fans & shutters can be a funny lot. The part that makes them so, and difficult to...
If you will keep the batteries charged, they will not freeze, and last for years, regardless of the Winter that you have. I put a charger on mine, 3 or 4 times per winter, to top them up. 12.66 volts is considered to be a fully charged battery. 12 volts is considered dead.
I was just thinking on this issue. I have a 2" receiver hitch for pulling small stuff, below the Pintle. Why can't one weld up a cross piece, that fits to the 2" receiver, in the form of a bumper? When you want to pull a trailer, take it out. While the trailer is on, the issue is a moot point!
