LST 325
Guys, I took my kids aboard that LST this summer when she was briefly at Alexandria, in the DC area.
Pretty neat. Real nice guys. Bought a commemorative t-shirt, and the captain signed my 6-year-old son's navy cap. Cool!
The Higgins boats that are mounted on the ship sure look...
aberdeen convoy
Yeah, it seems whenever I go to a parade or aberdeen I'm either solo or with just one buddy due to last-minute kids & family bidness.
I hope to be able to sign up and register on the convoy website this year, we'll see. One of the variables is that the guys who go as vendors go...
aberdeen MV rally this May
Hey, besides the Haspin rally thread, we should get one going to see who's making it to Aberdeen this May. Looks like we have several Virginians making it, who else? And with what?
I may bring an M101 with an S250 in it, so I can leave the 12' bed on the deuce open...
M35A3 with S280 commo box
BTW, M35Guy, I do like that S280 commo shelter in the bed of those M35A3's in the first picture....
But since I want some cargo space for junk in my bed as well as a little "camping" space, I'm thinking about an S250 short shelter.
US-style CTIS in general
From what I've heard & read the CTIS systems used on several different US tactical vehicles are total crap in the field.
Lots of downtime, sensitive as hell, the Russian CTIS is apparently the hot lick. Even the old DUKW CTIS is supposedly more reliable.
Heard that...
side exhaust...benefits
I believe one of the two M35's we drove to Rolling Thunder at the Pentagon last year or the year prior were side exhaust late 60's/early 70's LD 465 non-turbo'ed.
They are quieter......
side exhaust...benefits
Side exhausts do have the added benefit of being a helluva lot quieter, for those of us with non-turbo LD 465's......which is one of the reasons I was going to acquire or make up a side exhaust for my truck at some point. Plus, I wasn't planning on any deep water fording...
re: outage
Sorry to hear it was a technical problem, glad it wasn't the sudden termination of the site!
T-minus 3 days until Holiday break...off till Jan 3rd!
Thank goodness for elementary school vacation....
We don't have a problem with registration of Humvees in VA..
Done several, not a problem to tag here.
Those details usually get overlooked at inspections. And when you title something, good Lord, but you can get away with just about anything if you are creative (and lax) enough!
It wasn't...
deuce exhaust...got it!
Fellas, I managed to get the replacement exhaust parts I need close to home. It just took some gentle persuasion....
thanks for the offers of looking for parts...I do appreciate it!
PIP 2-1/2 ton on auction
Hey guys.
Take a look in the old Military Wheeled Vehicles book by Fred Crismon...that is indeed a protoype PIP upgrade deuce from the same program of which the 900-series 5-tons were born. See, the PIP trucks (product inprovement program) were both supposed to be...
convoy
I am going to try, especially since I have missed it for at least 3 years in a row (which coincides with when i divorced and changed careers and was forced to sell my house and divide my time with my kids to every other week)
Ideally I will have my deuce set up in a desert tan scheme...
Just wanted to see if my Adobe reader capabilities were on target...this jpeg shows all the little assorted bits pertaining to NON-turbo multifuel exhaust, but it looks like a little bit of the tippy-top of the exhaust stack got cut off for some reason....whatever! The stuff I need is in the...
deuce non-turbo exhaust bits
Thanks, both of you. Digital pics would be nice, but just so I get an idea of how they look - I'm sure the parts are reusable.
BTW I don't need the heat shield/guard, just the other stuff.
Looks like we got outta school today!
This is one third grade teacher with...
Clinto, those were intense. I think I am now more certain than ever I will build this deuce back into a desert tan beast, with or without super singles....
When I am back at the home PC I'll get those armored tactical truck pics uploaded. I got those pictures when I was in Germany this...
I would guess about 75-100 bucks for good take off?
Heck, I don't know...I haven't been shopping. All I know is good used without rot is fine enough for me.
Willing to trade? Gun stuff? Impala/Caprice stuff? Not too much extra deuce stuff around here...
Adam Lee
Hey, while I prepared myself for another potential snow day, I got to thinking about stuff I'm searching for.
Is anybody holding onto leftover NA exhaust parts from a conversion to turbo?
Or, more to the point, is anyone on the board willing to sell non-turbo exhaust stack, bend, and muffler -...
Pics of current deuce use in afghanistan/iraq
Speaking of deuces in the desert, I am not at my home PC but I am always collecting current pics of A2 and similar M35's from the 2 active theaters.
Late-model M35A3 pics are ok, but I am trying to form up a composite "sketch" of how older style...
