I'll post a pick of what $192 got me,( I went with $200 but spent $8 at the taco stand) its all still in my trunk. I got home, parked, showered, went to a 6 year old's birthday party, came home, watched a movie, went to bed and did family stuff ALLLLLLL day today to make up for the past 2 days...
RE: Great day in Fontana!!!
Hey Tyler, I wish I could take credit for helping you out but that wasnt me. I was the guy sitting to your left in the black shirt at the taco stand. We should have had name tags with our user name and our real name. Oh well, next time, glad to hear you made it home...
Hey DSD277, were you on the 210 west today around 4 pm? If so I honked at you as I drove by in my cute little white volkswagon. It looked just like the one in your avatar with "MTN" as the first 3 letters on the license plate.
Im the other good looking guy in the black shirt. It was a blast, I didnt want to leave. Great meeting everyone. I got home in time to wash off my dirt tan and head to a birthday party.
Thanks for the input Mogster. I ended up spending $750 on a complete clutch set up and all the factory manuals (in english). Slowly been doing the clutch an hour or two each night as time permits. Of all the things I've done automotive, this has to be the biggest pain in the butt! The old clutch...
RE: Need help in obtaining registration and parts in Califor
Registering is'nt too hard if you have the bill of sale and SF-97 form. All you need is a certified weight certificate, and a CHP inspection. The master cylinder is under the access door under the drivers seat, bleeding the brakes is...
Looks like I am in as well. The wife says we have no plans and I happen to have the day off. Cant think of anything I need but sounds like a good time. [thumbzup]
I had to force myself to stop looking at GL. Its the only way not to get sucked into buying another truck I dont need. Sounds like there were some great deals.
Thanks for the info fella's, the mog fest sounds like alot of fun. I got a couple of hours to tinker today so I installed 2 new batteries and started trouble shooting the clutch and found I am missing one of the forks on the pressure plate that the throw out bearing pushes on. I think I could...
Well I used the duece for one last mission today. Hooked up the tow bar to the front and pushed the mog up into the garage, fits very nicely. Chris I have too many questions so I am just going to buy all the manuals. I cant even figure out how to get the hood open. I found the rear canvas cover...
Thanks guys! No this gentleman is in Los Angeles county. I think I like the paint so much I might leave it, Ill make the interior nice and uniform. I finally got to sit down and look at the import paperwork. Turns out its a 1962 Unimog S 404.1, whatever that means. These things have some really...
Well after years of wanting a unimog, I got one. Bought it from a guy who has over 300 working original military vehicles used in the studios. He has an unbelievable collection however to protect his privacy I cannot give any more info until I have his permission. He named at least 4 movies I...
I would suggest the towbar route, get it home then get all the bugs worked out versus trying to drive it home and getting stranded then having to pay a big towbill.
I think Flowmasters would sound good. I had a 6.2 with a turbo and no muffler, sounded good except at a certain RPM it was real raspy sounding, kinda like an old hotrod with glass packs.
It came from a guy just outside of Dallas, I forget the name of the town. He was the president of some hummer owners group that frequently took it off road and was anal about maintenance. I paid $34k for it and sold it for the same, just had to each shipping charges which was only $700. I think...
RE: HMMWV
I too had always wanted one.Last year I showed one to my wife and she liked it so we bought it without putting much thought into it. It was a 98 with 80k miles, only 50k on a new motor. Very clean, well taken care of with lots of upgrades. After driving it a week I realized how...
