The previous owner of my truck was very proud of the fact that he did zero maintenance in 8 years of ownership. I don't think he even changed the oil. *facepalm*
When synthetic motor oil first became commonplace, the stuff would start to run out of an old engine. The manufacturers discovered that the synthetic oil lacked the properties of regular oil that kept rubber seals swollen. So they added some stuff to the additive package, and this problem was...
This is an issue in so many ways.
The fact that a bunch of senators that can't even use facebook correctly have the power to make far reaching changes to how we consume the internet is terrifying.
I was just checking out there site and they have a MRAP seats and folding seats for as cheap as I've found them on eBay. I'm sure our other vendors might be able to do better, but they may still be a good resource. I had no idea they carried stuff like this.
Letting it dump out the bottom is tempting. It helps attenuate the noise without adding a muffler and would actually reduce and back pressure under normal operation. I don't ever *plan* on deep water fording, but with all the flooding around lately, it's something I want to have the option of...
I was planning an buying a "J bend" (not to be confused with a J pipe) Since it has two 90's and a small straight section. Should be everything you need if you have a saw and welder, and its just a bit cheaper and more compact that the individual pieces.
That's a sucky day for sure!
I've had to stop a regular civvy vehicle with 4 wheel disc brakes that had lost assist while traveling at a pretty good clip. About the time your legs are ready to give out, you've bled maybe half your speed. I imagine the deuce is similar, but slower, maybe more...
Not sure if this is allowed, but if anyone is looking for a free CAD tool to make their own edits to this, the DraftSite software from Dassault is quite good and free for personal use. Anyone familiar with the recent updates to AutoCAD will feel right at home.
I'm in no way affiliated with the...
Holy cow.
For some reason I just read this whole thread. Was this a bunch of threads that got merged? First couple pages confused the crap outta me. What a ride!
Anyway, great work over the last few years. Very cool truck you've ended up with.
This^
The PSI rating on the tire is the MAX allowable for the tire, to give the maximum weight carry capacity. You will be very unhappy driving an empty truck with the tires pumped up to max.
Typically the deuces will have something like 45-55psi stenciled on the side as that is the expected...
I hear a lot of people take that attitude, but the brakes on these trucks really aren't meant to haul it from 45 to 0, or sustain long decel on hills. You need to use engine braking as much as reasonably possible. As long as you are doing it correctly, you won't experience undue wear on the...
Start with the m36 with the longer wheelbase. It came with an 18' bed and would be a better base for a 20' box. Would still have overhangs like a school bus.
